Disadvantages: difficulty
Devastation is a PC game co-published by ARUSH Entertainment and Groove Games. It is described as a high action, teamplay oriented first person shooter powered by heavily modified, next generation Unreal(tm) Engine technology.
The game is set in the future on a now devastated Earth with society overrun by powerful corrupt organizations while pacification squads and private police force uphold the corrupt syndicate.
Your role in the game is to play the leader of a small group of resistance fighters made up of gang leaders, mercenaries and ex-militiary operatives. You must travel the globe to restore peace and sanity.
The game runs on Windows 98/ME/200 and XP and requires a minimum system specification of 700MHz processor and 128MB RAM, though the recommended requirements are 1GHz Processor and 256MB RAM. You will also need at least Direct X 8.1.
The graphics throughout the game are full of detail and the animation is smooth. There are also lots of atmospheric sounds and music throughout the game which actually give it a lot of substance and works to make you feel like you are really there in the situation.
Even choosing the Easy gameplay option, the game is still extremely difficult. There is also the option of selecting Arcade or Simulation mode, though there really doesn't seem to be much difference.
In order to play this game you will need to be strategic, as there are all sorts of puzzles to work and enemies to creep up on. You can distract them by throwing objects to get past them and you must sneak around unseen.
I haven't got very far into the game yet, but I am thoroughly enjoying it. I have got to a point where smoke starts bellowing out of the walls and I have to find a way out quick before it kills me.
Summary: A great game with good graphics, and playability

- 29/08/08 Good luck completing it! I know I struggled but never made it.
Got to a mission where I could never disable the enemy regenerator in the time limit they give you so I ended up cheating.
Trie d EVERY possible strategy and approach angle I could but the 4 times I've installed the game I am yet to beat that level with no cheats. |
