Advantages: Big Box
Disadvantages: £2 less in your pocket
After visiting EB, Virgin and dodgy second hand computer store I was forced to resort to MVC (not something to do lightly when buying PC games) Where I was greeted with 5 boxes of the gift set/collectors edition. It was I have to admit only £2 more than the normal boxed set. After handing over my extra shiny £2 coin I went home to be greeted with a wealth of cardboard packaging of three layers to get through. For this extra cursing and ripping you get a DVD which is basically the cut scenes from the game all put together with a limited increase in quality. And a hefty game guide. The guide basically is just the manual, but padded out. The only one thing of use is the quest section, detailing them all and how to complete them, but Diablo has never been a game filled with hard riddles and brain crushing puzzles. Diablo II is a fine game don't get my wrong but the so called collectors edition is pointless. If you crave large boxes on your shelves compared to the new slim styled plastic ones then perhaps this is for you, if not try to get the normal version.

- 18/03/01 I personally wish I'd got this version, however that's probably because I really liked the cut scenes and having them on a DVD would be good. Shame this collectors edition doesn't have all the additions that the original one (produced at the same time the original game came out) did, then it would be much better value. |
