Advantages: Great, time-inducing fun

Disadvantages: when you exit the monsters come back to life

I played the demo of Diablo(one) but never quite got round to paying for the whole game, I was quite impressed however. When I heard there was a sequal out I rushed out and bought it on the strength of the demo I played.
I have certainly not be disappointed in any form. It has soaked up an awful lot of my time because of its addictive nature. There are so many things to do and the small rewards make you say that you will just do the next quest, get to the next level, get the next weapon, explore the next corner or so on.
At the start you choose you character, either an Amazon, a Sorceress, a Necromancer, a Barbarian or a Paladin. Eash with vastly different strengths and weaknesses. I went a barbarian first and, after completing it with him went as a Necromancer. The difference was huge, the necromancer could not cope with the melee combat which the Barbarian relished. It is almost like having five games in one and there is no wonder that it took Blizzard three years to complete. You get a small reward for almost every monster you kill.
The sounds are spot on and there is no daft musical accompliment, the difficulty level is fairly accurate (I suggest either the Barbarian or the Paladin for beginners), there are hundreds of monsters to fight(although some are reincarnations of other with different skins), the cut-scenes are beautifully made, The four acts are very fresh and different and the alround graphics get better and better as you progress through the acts (due to the updating of technology availably to the creators).
All round this game is a worthy investment as it will bring many hours of both frustration and enjoyment.
The only downside that I have found is that when you save it the monsters that you have already killed are re-spawned but I guess this makes you play for longer periods.

Actually, the re-spawning of creatures can be very helpful. When you are facing a difficult part, where you know you need a higher level, you can actually exploit this to gain experience. Pick a large area filled with monsters, kill-em all, and quit-restart. All monsters are back, allowing you to kill them again. It is quite repetative, but the next part of the game will get far more easy.

Personally, I started of with the wizard and combining the fire and lightning spellpaths for improvements, which worked fine for me. I'm now a level 38 wizard, and still enjoying the game a lot!
