Released in 1998, Dogz 3 is the third instalment from the kid’s virtual pet game ‘Dogz’. This newer version, (there’s now a fourth!) has newer additions to the original and the second versions. Apparently, over 2 million people world-wide have Dogz on their PC as well as Catz – the feline versions.

The Breads

There are 10 different breads of Dogz available. These are :-
1. Mutt
2. Dachshund
3. Sheepdogz
4. Labrador
5. Great Dane
6. Chihuahua
7. Bulldogz
8. Dalmatian
9. Scottish Terrier
10. Poodle

These dogz are available to be ‘adopted’. To begin the whole process, you need to go to the Adoption Centre. Here you will have the chance to “Pick a Pet”. When you have decided what Dog you want (you can adopt 2 at a time) you then press “Adopt Now”. This is where the fun begins.

Caring After Your Dogz and Showing Care.

As a proud owner of your new virtual pet, you need to make sure you take care of your dog otherwise it will run away! The basics that need to be done with your dog to ensure it doesn’t do a runner is to give it the basic necessities such as giving it a lot of love, food and water and on occasion doggy treats. Your dog must also be exercised regularly to keep it healthy and also should be groomed with the various brushes available to ensure a healthy coat.

Other things to do.

Your Dogz can do many things such as do tricks which should be rewarded by giving them various doggy treats such as Beefy Treats and Love Shaped Treats. As well as being a well behaved Dog, your pet can also become aggressive if not looked after properly for example and so they need to be disciplined, this can be accomplished by using the spray bottle.

Playing Areas

There are many different backdrops to your Dogz surroundings these include the Garden, the Kitchen, the Living Room, The Beach and even the desktop. The newest feature of this version is the choice of clothing the dog. Yes I did say clothing the dog, the Americans do so why shouldn’t we! Lol. There are many different items of clothing that can be chosen. Go to the clothes closet and see for yourself. Items of clothing include sunglasses, hats, comic accessories such as clowns hat and various socks and jumpers. As well as having a clothes closet, there is a toy closet also. This place includes various items such as the different foods, treats and drinks as well as cuddly toys and balls.

Breeding – Yes Breeding!

As well as looking after your Dogz, if your pets are males and females there may be a chance that they may have a puppydog! This can be achieved by using various objects such as the perfume, music box, satin pillow and also the heart candy. If your pet is pregnant there will be a message next time you load up the game.

There are loads of other things you can do with your dogz such as paint them different colours even blue and green. Plant seeds and watch them grow and teach them lots of tricks.

Personal Experience.

I bought this game being the kind person I am for my sister. She enjoyed this game for a good few weeks but did loose interest eventually. They haven’t run away yet I don’t think but its only time. One reason could include me being on the computer all the time so she has no time to look after the Dogz so in a way, it’s mine and Dooyoo’s fault! Lol. My sisters Dogz are or were proud parents of a puppy. There can be cross breads achieved from breeding different breeds such as my sister had a Sheepdog and Dalmatian which in turn the puppy developed characteristics from both dogz, such as the size of the Sheepdog
and the colour of the Dalmatian.

I have had a go at this game and it is quite shocking at how much kids entertainment has improved and grown. The game is clever which can capture a child’s imagination and also teach them the responsibility of having a pet without all the hassle of dog mess.
