      crazy monster fighting scary game

Doom was revolutionary back in its day and was the original (and still best) first person shooter. Upon its original release the first Doom mas massively popular, and left its fans wanting more, and that is exactly what Doom 2 delivers.

It follows on from the first Doom, demons and monsters have invaded the earth and it is up to you to drive them out. The plot is quite loose however, as once your in the game you just go from level to level constantly battling a huge onslaught of nasties relentlessy and there really isnt much of a story - that and your too busy fighting for your life to notice that there is one. This isnt a bad point however!

The aim of the game is basically to battle your way through the levels, taking on a wide range of monsters from imps that fire fireballs at you, crazy floating bulbus heads, wierd fat machine gun wielding nasties to crazy robotic arachnid type things. This isnt a game for the casual gamer and is relentlessy hard and unforgiving, save points are few and faw between, and although health is readily found throughout the levels its not enough to keep you alive.

When I was younger I loved playing this game and without blowing my trumpet I was really quite good at it. A few weeks ago however I decided to play Doom again and I was terrible, I couldnt keep up with the relentless attacks and just kept dying - i still play games alot - but this was just so HARD!

The games graphics look very dated now, and they we'rent really up to scratch back then, but a few minutes into the game and you forget all this. and to be honest, thats part of its charm and enjoyment aswell. The soundtrack and sound effects are briliant, really giving it a scary atmosphere, and it is still the only game thats had me hiding behind a corner of wall on the game not wanting to wander out to see whats on the other side (with the exception of the first deadspace for the ps3). You can hear the snorkling and grunts of monsters as your wandering around, knowing that they are around the corner or the next - it really is a scary game.

Overall this is a brilliant game and for me nothing has ever compared to it, I havent put the hours that I put into this game into any other game since - it really is a classic and will always stay up there as one of my all time favourite series of games!

Very challenging but also very fun

Doom is the original masterpiece of the FPS genre, and its sequel, imaginatively titled Doom 2, is every bit the game the original was, even if it's not quite as revolutionary. For its time, the game may not be a masterpiece of graphics (and certainly looks dated now!), but it was certainly adequate, and its retro design is something of an iconic identifying signature nowadays. It is a game that will live on forever in the annals of video game history as one of the best sequels ever.

It is a very atmospheric game despite its so-so visuals; the soundtrack is extremely good, with tense beats, and some excellent sound effects, such as when you rattle off the weapons. It is quite retro but then that is a big part of the appeal in many ways. It is enhanced by a mildly creepy story, seeing you as the surviving marine who is returning to Earth after the events of the first game, only to find the demons have taken over Earth as well!

Control-wise it is a bit different than most other FPS games, but what really separates this game out is its insane difficulty. I have had this game for many, many years, but getting past the half-way mark is an intense test of one's skill, and it is a game, I'm ashamed to say, that I've never been able to beat without cheat codes. The relentless nature of the game and classical lack of saves means that it is brutally unforgiving, and not for casual gamers who just want a charge and blast run-through. Given how forgiving games tend to be now, this is a refreshing antidote that just doesn't concede to the player's whims.

A great sequel that builds upon an all time classic!

Ah, Doom 2, where to begin?

The release of the original Doom game back in 1993 left its fans begging for more.... more levels, more enemies....more weapons....MORE!.... and this is precisely what Doom 2 delivers.

Subtitled "Hell On Earth" the plot to Doom 2 is that whilst you the player were fighting your way through Jupiter's moon colonies and on into Hades itself during the first instalment, the residents of Hell have meanwhile been wreaking havoc back on Earth, meaning that it is now up to you to push them back, city by city, suburb by suburb. I use the word 'plot; lightly though, because the 'Earth' theme is only really played lip service to here, and many of the levels, though excellent, dont really do justice to this theme in terms of their design. Instead, Doom 2 feels more like a collection of (admittedly very high quality) "wads" (levels) lumped together, which is still no bad thing, but it's worth remembering that this was around the time that PC Zone Magazine gave away a free cd containing over a thousand fan-made levels, some of which were seriously good.

The levels in Doom 2 tend to be more open and less claustraphobic than those of its predecessor, frequently involving huge arena battles with heretofore unseen numbers of attackers bearing down on the player at once. This works well in conjunction with one of the game's main strength's: the new enemies. These include the Mancubi, huge, obese, reptilian creatures with flamethrowers where their hands should be that scatter napalm fireballs in all directions, undead chaingunners, who can channel an immense amount of firepower in your general direction at a constant, health-sappingly fast rate, revenants, ie reanimated skeletons with shoulder mounted, guided missile launchers, and arachnotrons, walking brains on mechanical legs with plasma cannons, whose heads explode satisfyingly when enough ammunition is pumped into them. Some great fun can be had with these new enemies, for example manouvering to place a group of imps between yourself and a chaingunner, then watching them turn around and rip him apart after he peppers them with bullets in an attempt to hit you.

Finally there is the Arch Vile, a huge, emaciated-looking demon who is able to cast a powerful and unsettling delayed flame attack upon you and even more dangerously, reanimate the freshly slaughtered dead. An Arch Vile let loose in the wrong place can cause untold mayhem, resurrecting the various abominations that you've just spend the last ten minutes and five thousnd rounds taking down. Thankfully Doom 2 introduces a new weapon- only one, but it's a damn good one: a huge, shiny double barelled shotgun which is immensely satisfying to use, and can take out large numbers of enemies at once (I think 8 or 9 undead marines is my own personal record).

As with the original, gore and horror is once more top of the agenda, leading Doom 2 attract at the time of its release media attention similar to the wave of 'video nasty' panic that swept the country in the 80s, with one Daily Mail journalist reporting that the game included a level that involved "executing children nailed to the walls of a concentration camp" (This of course was utter bollocks and the journalist eventually admitted that she had never actually played the game herself but was rather "relying on her journalistic instincts").

Whilst not massively different from the original, Doom 2 gives the fans exatly what they want; more of the same, only lovingly embellished and carefully tinkered with, so its rather hard to fault its lack of overall originality. Everything that made the original great is reproduced here, right down to the fantastic new MIDI tracks that will have fans of Slayer, Pantera and Alice In Chains rubbing their hands with glee (for example, the music to the level 'Barrels'O'Fun' unashamedly borrows the main riff from Alice In Chains' song 'Dem Bone's' to great effect!)

The game's final boss is a little disappointing, requiring the player to repeatedly fire a rocket at just the right time after jumping off a platform in order to fire into a giant demon's pinned open brain, but apart from this rather tedious closer there is very little to criticise about Doom 2. Seriously good fun!

DOOM II is one of my all time top 10 favourite game. Of course the technology is old - but the experience was incredible. Left on Earth, you are the only man who can save the world from horrible monsters (that's quite a story). You basically try to find keys to get to other levels, while slaughtering hundreds of monsters with some of the cooolest weapons ever festured in the video game (the double barreled shotgun is a legend for any self-respecting FPS hardcore gamer fan). Sounds stupid? It is. But after a while, it's like YOU are wandering the hellish corridors, killing evil looking monsters under red skies (doom II is the game where you kill the most monsters. I think you fight about 1500 monsters to finish the game, and damn it's fun). How do you like your chaos? My Doom II is fine...

Well what can i say about Doom 2, surely if you own a PC or you love video games you surely must have played one of the doom games. They are all practically the same yet so different. Okay so they aren't hugely different, most of the time its just slightly better graphics, maybe a new enemy or weapon and more levels. But the whole DOOM experience makes each game seem so brand new and great. This game (well DOOM) was about the second ever FPS (first person shooter) to be made, the first being Wolfenstein 3D which was made by the people who you guessed it made DOOM. It was highly basic and you ran around a huge castle infested with Nazi's, it was a great game. Although it’s extremely basic and dated nowadays it remains great. The same has to be said with DOOM. But with doom it’s a whole lot better. No game has ever thrown about 20-25 monsters at you at once, its extremely scary and nasty when you are rampaged by loads of cacodemons, of lots of revenants with their homing missiles. The one major thing that’s makes doom so great is it atmosphere. The game manages to create a damp, eerie, creepy atmosphere through its music and sound effects. Add to that some nasty looking graphics and sprites (people skewered with huge spikes). Its not very nice, and that what’s so special about the game, its scariness, nowadays it probably couldn't scare an old granny, but in the days when it was made it was a great game that’s could scare the crap out of anybody on the face of the earth. The game has around 9 weapons ranging from your fists to a huge BFG which kills just about anything within its blast radius (except the big nasty pasties) and their also a chainsaw :). The extensive armoury is great fun to play, each with their own special advantages, i.e. the sawn off shotgun is great when you have a room full of weak enemies as its range is huge. The story of the game is there is a huge group of a
lien, monster, zombie, things coming to invade and destroy earth. You have to stop them, you are a marine and you and your friends have been sent to their planet to stop them. And guess what happens, you are the only one left because the nasty pasties have tortured, killed and got rid of you mates completely, so you grab your gun, load up and go kick some bad guy butt. This may seem a bit weird but its the way I have put it forward. The gameplay of doom, is quite linear, you basically, have to do one bit, grab a key card and then open a door to the next little bit of the level until you find the exit. But its not as tedious as it sounds. Some of the levels are highly interesting and fun, and also challenging to play. The whole experience and feeling of the game makes you want to keep going on until you get to the next level, then guess what you just want to keep going. I have never had so much fun with a game for along time. A great little thing about doom that i like, is the head that site on the status bar, which shows your health, armour and ammo and stuff. You know the score, but anyway this little head, is apparently the main characters head and its moves around responding to damage by looking in the direction the damage cam from, and its appearance changes. As your health gets lower the face starts to drop and become covered in blood, by the time you are on about 5% health your hero looks as if he has just went about 30 rounds with Mike Tyson. This is only a small touch but it adds that’s little bit of appeal to the game and its gameplay. Well there not much more i can say about doom, except that it is a great gun totting experience, which everyone must experience. If you haven't played this game or played any other DOOM game, then get yourself one of the DOOM games. Doom is widely heralded as one of the best games ever to grace our screens. So obviously I'm going to sit here and tell you how much of a great game it is, and how you should all play it just to have experienced one of the most influential games in the history of gaming. And yes I am going to do that, but I may also drop in a few negative points because I don't think Doom was the great innovator that everyone thinks it was. I've said in a few ops before that if you don't know what the subject is about then you must have had your head stuck in the sand for a few years - but this time I really mean it. I don't expect a 40-something year old to know exactly what Doom is, but I'm sure that 99% of people have at least heard of it. Or maybe not. Perhaps I overestimate the influence of the humble computer game, so just incase I better write a little as to what Doom is all about. Doom doesn't really have a plot as such (or maybe I don't remember it), but the general idea is that you are a Marine and somehow, for some reason, you are alone on a planet which is infested by monsters. Perhaps you were a little rude to one of them, but for some reason they all hate you - so much so that they want to kill you! Of course, that isn't good at all so instead you'll just have to kill them all. Thousands of them. An easy job if ever there was one. So, with your extremely puny pistol you have you start the game in a building, and work your way through level after level of monsters. To spice things up a bit most levels have some locked doors, which can only be opened with the correctly coloured key. First you will have to find that key, so as well as shooting the monsters the game has a 'find red key to open red door to find blue key to open blue door to find......' feel to it. Oh, and I nearly forgot, you get switches too which can do things, like open secret doors. And that is basically all there is to the game. As you p
rogress your pistol is replaced by larger guns, and the monsters get tougher, but the game is generally the same. Of course, it wasn't the story or what the game was about that made Doom so special - it was the fact that it did it in 3D, or at least what we would call 3D in those days. Rather than being a 2D sideways scrolling platformer like 99% of all games made at that time, Doom invented the first person shooter (FPS) genre. Or at least it gets the credit for doing so, in reality it was beaten by another game - but more on that later. So I hear all you non gaming people cry, what?s a FPS. Well, the name says it all. It's a shooting game, viewed from the first person perspective, as if you were yourself holding the gun. The monitor effectively becomes your eyes, so as you run around the world you see what you would see if you were really there. And that made it all the more fun, it was as if you were in that world running around - a feeling which you didn't get from other games. But everyone knows now that Doom is pants. It wasn't pants back then, but compare it to anything made in the last 5 years and it's fatally flawed. In the interest of this review I dug out my old copy of Doom. Installation took seconds and it loaded comfortably fast on my relatively new PC. I chose a random episode, medium skill level and went for it. The first thing I did was reach for that hi/low resolution toggle key. I remember you could change the resolution of the graphics, and judging by what was on the screen I had to be in low res mode - hadn't I? Alas, by trial and error I found that the correct key was F5 but pressing it just took me in to low res mode, it was already in high res mode!! Half way down the hallway the enemies were nothing more than a blue of pixels. Of course, at this point we must remember that I used to play Doom on my old 486 SX-33, with a whopping 4Mb of RAM, and it ran fine in hi-res mode. It'
s noticeably smoother on the new PC but doesn't look any better. The next thing you notice about Doom is that it is totally flat. There are stairs so there are different levels, but you can't jump or crouch, or even look up and down. Aiming is 100% automatic, you just have to point in a general direction and shoot - and you'll hit the bad guy!! Compared to the likes of Quake and Unreal Tournament, Doom is decidedly simple. But this had one plus point - Doom was the only PC FPS shooter game to be ported well to the consoles. I'm not saying Quake on consoles is bad, but the joypad is never going to offer the control that a keyboard and mouse do, and I'm afraid that all the console conversions of popular PC FPS games in my opinion have been inferior to the PC version. Even games like Goldeneye on the N64 are extremely awkward to control - or at least to the level that you want to be able to. Doom on the other hand didn't have any fiddly bits, so playing with a Playstation joypad was just the same as a PC keyboard, or in some cases even better. Doom has appeared on everything from the SNES to N64, and just about every version has been good. But I'm a big fan of the 'graphics aren't that important' club, and in this case that phrase is very true. On the one hand, yes, the graphics look atrocious now, but I still had fun playing Doom today. It was undoubtedly fun back when it was released, but it can still hold its own in the fun department today. I don't know what it is, but there's something to be said about killing monsters at close range with the shotgun, then backing off as the gun reloads. It's classic gaming, but for once classic gaming doesn't automatically mean boring by today?s standards. The weapons in Doom have become known as the bog standard weapons in any FPS, but it must be remembered that the other games are just copying Doom and the standards that it set. Doom did it all
first! As well as the pistol there were all the other faithfuls, the shotgun, chain gun, rocket launcher and plasma cannon, as well as the BFG. Oh, and what could be more fun than the infamous Doom chainsaw!! The guns were good, but what really made Doom great was the level design. Each level may be based around the same getting keys to open doors gameplay, but they did managed to make each level interesting and fun to play. To this day the level design in Doom remains some of the best I have ever seen. Of course, the original Doom was not the only Doom game to grace our screens. Not by half! After Doom there was Doom 2 on the PC, as well as an untold number of conversions, sequels and upgrades on all the various consoles, as well as a new version for the PC that was optimised for Windows 95. But, going back to the point of Doom creating the FPS genre. Doom was made by ID software, but this was by no means their first attempt at such a game. Wolfenstein 3D came out before Doom, and was a similar game. Wolfenstein was much more primitive (it even ran on a 286!!) but the fact remains that it was a FPS, before Doom. Doom takes the glory because it was the most popular - but it was not the first! Doom was also responsible for starting the whole farcical 'computer games turned my kid in to a murderer' movement, which is of course utter tripe. Doom was, however, one of the first games to feature a 15/18 rating from the BBFC, and at the time it was pretty violent and gory. Doom is something that everyone should have played - even if it's just as a bit of nostalgia. It still remains a fun game, and I have certainly played worse games that have been released this year! The first section of the first game is even available on shareware, so I'm sure if you scour the net you can find it somewhere! One of gaming?s finest moments! Note - Although Dooyoo don't have a Doom category as such
, I had the choice to post this in any one of about 10 different Doom categories (various versions and systems!), so I picked this one! It shouldn't matter too much, as this op was more about Doom in general as opposed to a specific version!

Doom 2 is the follow up to Doom (beleve it or not!) but is better, bigger and has a more potent cocktail of weaponry and monsters; this game does have its limitations though i.e. *Has any one ever completed this game with out cheating?? *The levels are too big and take to long to complete and may of them have to may monsters. *Some parts of the game are just overly hard! But on the good site it’s a great game with great game play for just going out and doing some serious killing when you want to release some of that work day stress on a load of monsters and troopers! The graphics are not to good, well not really much an improvement on the original Doom, but once you get into it that doesn’t matter so much as all your into is gunning down the enemy with your newest heavy weapon!

Doom 2 is of course the follow-up to the game Doom. These old classics spawned a whole race of new games such as Quake and Unreal Tournament. I have been reading other peoples opinions on Doom 2 and most of them say that "its an absolutely awesome game!" "the best game of its type!" but it really isn't (well, not anymore at least). I used to play Doom, Doom 2 and Final Doom every day when they were fairly new games, I loved them, how could games ever get better than this?! Hmmm… Well I must admit, without Doom 2 and a few other games of this type we would not be provided with some of the marvellous wonders of the gaming world that we have today (Quake 3, Unreal Tournament 2, Half-Life etc). I’m sure many of you have played these reletively new games and if you have then you will notice how Doom 2 just cannot compete anymore. I'm sure that if you sat down and played Doom 2 for 30 minutes you would think "What the hell am I doing? this is totally boring!". I'm sorry guys, but Doom 2 is totally boring. Let me give you an overview of the game itself… Object of the Game ================== The basic idea is to blast all of your enemies into oblivion and reach the exit alive. You can do this by using the weapons featured in the game. But reaching the end of the level can sometimes be very difficult. You need to find different coloured keys, these keys open certain doors that lead you to the exit. There are many powerups to pick up and other various items. Weapons ======= Fists – Yes, you can beat your enemies into a pulp (if they don’t spill your guts first). Chainsaw – This is a weapon that does not take ammo. If you run out of ammo and cannot find anymore then this may just save your life against those horrible creatures you will encounter. Shotgun – Not exactly the most powerful gun but it is useful during the early l
evels of the game when the enemies are weak and easy to kill. Double Barelled Shotgun – A powerful weapon that kills some enemies with one shot, others of course, take a lot more hits to destroy. Chain Gun – A gun that fires loads of bullets in one go. Its automatic and when you constantly hit an enemy with it they do not usually have time to fire back. Plasma Gun – This is one decent weapon. One powerful beast of a gun. You will use this to kill many of the tougher more intelligent enemies in the game. Rocket Launcher – Definitely the second best weapon in the game. Powerful and can kill most enemies with just a few shots but the toughest enemies can take up to 10 shots or more to kill with this baby. BFG - This is one aweeeesomeeee weapon. This can clear a room of 20 enemies with one shot. It even kills many of the toughest enemies with one shot. Enemies ======= There are many different enemies you will have to kill during the game. Here is just a couple of them. Grunt – men that are armed with shotguns. These dudes are a pain in the a*se during the earlier levels. If they hit you then you can lose a fair amount of energy. Baron – This is one weird creature. I can’t remember exactly but I think it has goats legs that are back-to-front with a bulls head or something and the body of a man who works out at the gym. They are tough and take quite a few blasts with a rocket launcher to take them down. Coloured Keys ============= There are three different coloured keys to collect during the game. These keys open the corresponding coloured doors so that you can progress through the levels. In the later levels these keys become more difficult to find and get hold of, usually guarded by many enemies. Powerups ======== There are many different powerups you can pick up during the game that will help you def
eat enemies such as berserk, invincibility, radiation suit and more. Berserk – This puts you I a sort of hyper mode. You become as strong as an ox and if you use your fists as your weapon you can make enemies explode into a gooie mess with one hit. Invincibility – You are of course, invincible to all attacks. But this is temporary so make good use of it. Radiation Suit – You can walk over deadly radiation waste to get keys or items or weapons that are hidden. This is also temporary so get out of there quickly. Items ===== Items include things such as health and ammo. These are essential if you are to complete the game successfully. Ammo – There are many different sorts of ammo that you can collect that go with the many different weapons you can pick up. There are boxes of rockets for the rocket launcher and bullets for your chain gun. Items – These items are vital to your survival and should be left until needed. Do not pick up health packs if you have 98% health, whats the point? This is a little tip that will certainly save your life a few times during gameplay. You can also pick up armour which protects you from attacks, it absorbs some of the attack. This too, does not last forever. Other Stuff =========== You can choose from a range of difficulties during the game from ‘I can win’ to ‘Nightmare’. Nightmare level is just psycho because the enemies keep on re-spawning so as you kill one another one is created. The controls are basic. There’s strafe, fire, open doors and move. I think this is too simple, I’m sure the developers could have put a little more effort into the controls of the character, I mean he IS the main character in the game. There is an options screen where you can change a few things such as sound effects and music volume but that’s about it. End Result ===
======= It sounds like a good game yes? No, its not… … the graphics aren't exactly 3D rendered with 16 million colours. Plus, there aren't more than around 7 controls, you can't even jump for gods sake! If you look at the most recent games of this type there are many more useful controls. Not only the controls but the levels too. Talk about REPETITIVE TURD. Really, every level is just the same old boring thing made even more boring by the lack of interesting items, monsters and other stuff. Plus, the monsters don't exactly have high intelligence do they? Some people may be saying whilst reading this, but its an old game so they didn't have the technology to do all of these things did they? But what I say to that is...the time is now. People don't want old games anymore so I do have the right to say all of these things. I mean, if you walked into a store and saw Doom 2 and right next to it was Unreal Tournament 2 I don't think you would bother buying Doom 2 would you? Yep, thought so. But, there is one positive aspect of this game and that is the noises the monsters make, I'm sorry if you disagree but I think those are the scariest noises ever. You hear them everywhere but don't know where they are coming from, then you turn a corner and there are twenty Barons there! Some people may still enjoy playing these old classic games, but, for me, they have passed their time and should be thrown into a furnace burning at around 4000 Kelvin. Or...blasted with high density cosmic rays.

I think DOOM 2 is revolutionary game; the graphics are great, the sound is good, and the theme is terrible. I would not buy Doom 2, unless you have friends to play over the modem with. Getting a map editor to create your own levels, is great fun. I used DoomCad, which I got off the Internet. Doom 2 can be played indefinitely, because of the many levels, and difficulties. Playing over a modem is superb. When I played with a 386 the game play is tedious and is not with playing. Doom 2 gets your blood pumping and helps you stay awake.

Doom2 for me marked the first person shooter genre's golden moment. Even when compared to the likes of quake and half-life, doom2 stands out as an inspiring exercise in tight level design, full-on weaponry and lots and lots of killing. You see, for me, killing's a numbers game. Despite the vast leap in system performance since the arrival of Doom2, averaged spec'd systems today wouldn't be able to cope with throwing around the same amount of characters on screen if they were all rendered to the quality that modern gamers demand. The most enemies you see on-screen in a game of halflife is probably something like five or six. In doom2, it's more like twenty. Also, although they've been copied to death now, doom2's weapon selection was awe inspiring at the time. With a total of eight different ways of killing things this was carnage on a previously unheard of scale. And every weapon was made to feel just right. Although it only added one new weapon (the super shotgun) to it's prequels arsenal, it was so satifying to use and well-balanced, that there weren't many complaints. Doom2 was fire spewing, demon splattering, destruction from start to finish, every level paced perfectly so you couldn't relax for a second. Entering a huge room, you'd see it to be empty except for maybe a rocket launcher or something else yummy right in the middle. A shaft of light shining down onto it makes you certain that it's a trap. The beauty, though, lies in the fear of exactly what kind of trap it is. Maybe it will just open one hidden door, and you'll be attacked by a small pack of imps or a few demons. Maybe every single wall of the room will slide upwards and you'll be charged down by wave upon wave of the most savage, bloodthirsty nightmares this side of basildon high street on a friday night. Half-Life and its kind put a great deal of emphasis on the fact that their enemies are intelligent, react realistically,
and even do things like run away to get help if youre getting a bit good. Doom2's don't run away, ever, and all theyre intelligent enough to do is want to rip you apart with their bare teeth. There's been news recently that a new Doom is being developed. Hopefully ID will know what made doom2 such a hit, a fully 3d version of doom would be awesome, as long as they keep the creatures dumb and many.

Where did it all start? The answer is with DOOM. FPS (first-person shooters) all came about with doom and it has evolved into such games as quake3. If you want a taste of how games were back in the days then you should get this. This game was the pinacle of its time and inspired greats such as Half-life and Quake 3. By today's the graphics, sound and anything else you wish to mention is dated and it is a dos game although you can buy final doom which runs in the windows environment. This game has multiplayer support which is absoloutly brilliant even on a direct serial cable. The game is brilliant and even if your computer is poor you can still get this up to a good speed. I wqould also like to mention one thing in paticular, the multi-player mode over the internet. THe dooming community is extremely small but large enough for there to be someone always playing it. The retailversion doesn't support internet play and an external modification is required. The best modification to my knowledge is CSdoom. The latest version enables users to set up there own server, play other people and even search for games running. It also converts your version of doom into a much more user friendly windows version (just like final doom). It also adds some features to the game such as mouse look and a jump button. If you have ever played on-line then this game is another brilliant package for which you can play and it will certainly give you more for your money. I would recommend this game to anyone of any expertise. However if a trip back to the old days isn't your thing or your new to gaming, i wouldn't bother.

This game is basically, walk around blasting the hell out of everybody with a seriously large gun with lots of ammo. You fight monsters, each one having a different super power to try and stop you. You are a little man in what looks like a space suit. This game can be played for hours on end and is excellent in the Office for after hours. What are you waiting for go buy it!! Yeah I've heard it all before this game is old but its one of the original 'shoot em ups'. The graphics are oldish but that doesnt stop millions of fans playing it. There are two versions of this game, meaning you can buy it for DOS or Windows95. With the windows version you can enhance the graphics resulution which is great. If you are new to computers and are used to the new enhanced smooth 256bit graphics with 64megs of DDR then you may not enjoy this game, but for a fiver or less you may as well try it! Its fast reliable and you will have so much fun playing it. You can play the game over the net or via Lan (Local area Network). There are loads of levels on the game and thousands more can be found on the net. You must hurry to get this game as it is now 6 years old. You may have to get it on special order. A friend is bound to have it you must get a copy!! PROS Fast Gameplay, excellent monsters, brilliant weapons. Great Game in every aspect. ID Should get an award! Thousands of levels available. Good Multiplayer CONS Maybe hard to find a copy. If you are new to computers and have the latest Technology you may find that the game is not very good, try to treat it as the best arcade game ever!
