For my favorite race, the Lunar colony, so much power was needed. From electric walls, energy beam towers, etc. All of these things took it's toll on your power and as your batteries dwindled away the fear of being attacked with your defensive down was aggravating. Suddenly those meaningless power...more

Crowned Review Earth 2150 (PC): A huge evolution in RTS! (698 words)
by Stalin - written on 22/11/00 (Very useful, 100 readings)

When Westwood Studios invented the RTS genre all those years ago with Dune 2, it was a smash. The gameplay was new and exciting, never before seen. You could build an army, construct buildings, harvest resources, and send your units to do battle. And today we can... build an army, construct buildings, harvest resources, and send our units to do battle. OK, maybe I'm being a little harsh, but lets face it, things haven't really moved on. While Earth 2150 is no revolution in RTS, it has evolved so much over Westwood's original blueprint (which all developers seem determined to follow) that this is no bad thing. This way, it retains all the simple charms that ...

Earth 2150 is the first real-time stratergy game with total 3D warfare, this gives the game a whole new perspective and is really fun to play. This game came out soon after C&C Tiberian Sun came out and complete wiped the floor with it. As you know many of the original stratergy games mainly by Westwood have not really been significantly advanced, you still get the boring old view which in some ways can be really boring and crap to play with. The basic history of the game is in 2150, their will be a nuclear holocaust and earth will be uninhabited. However there are three surviving factions the Lunar Corporation, the Eurasian Dynasty and the United Civilised ...

Premium Review Earth 2150 (PC): Earth's future and grand adventure (602 words)

Rating:

Earth 2150 is an RTS game which had the right idea on so many things but failed to deliver them on the exceptional level I foresaw it to have. A game based on realism while dwelling into the far future it had some great concepts. Let's start with that realism. In Earth 2150, every unit that had physical form of attack *rockets, bullets, etc*, had a limited quantity of it. You'd have supply depots that would fly out and resupply troops that would need it automatically, this including your defensive towers as well. Most players would go "BOO!" on this idea, but hold on a minute and consider what exciting levels of play this would achieve! ...

Good all round package Single player may not last

Looks and sounds superb, plays very well High Min Spec

Great graphics, very realistic game crashes often, hard to learn

Sub-Fractions, better campaign, more variety Rushing multiplayer opponents

Story, Gameplay, Background Detail, Armies generally feel well balanced, Army painter is good fun the 2 new races feel weak and slightly broken, air vehicles feel weak.
