Advantages: Great graphics, slight variation on standard RTs plot, looks much better than C&C and clones

Disadvantages: Very processor and GPU hungry, seen much of it before

I have been very surprised not to find this anywhere on dooyoo yet, so here goes...

Earth2150 is a real time strategy game (RTS). The story is similar to most of those that have gone before it - X battles Y sometime in the future. This time we also have Z which adds to the interest as all three sides have greatly differing weapon systems.

The story this time is that a nuclear war has thrown the earth out of its orbit and the 3 factions have to battle over the limited resources left to build an evacuation fleet in 183 days (i.e. 6 months)

The Euarsian dynasty is a rather technological retarded society run by Ghenghis Khan decendents - I think - i don't take these things too seriously. SO, it has beefed up tanks and helicopters. Life is cheap. The United Civilised States have a very automated army built around creatures like the "monster" in Robocop (the two legged thing). The lunar corporation has moved to the moon nd has loads of anti gravity stuff. The basic units of each side do much the same but look different, but each side has its our specialities and its own form of weapons of mass destruction.

So - in simple terms the plot is: find resources, research, build, fight. And that is about it - fight it out against and with the other two sides at various times. Gather resources both for building and researching, and for saving for your evacuation fleet.

Ther is a complication is that you have a permanent main base from which you have to ferry stuff to missions and back again at the end - build locally, or build centrally?

The missions are farily standard fare. Build a defensive structure and hold out or destroy the enemy.

Graphically the game is superb - but also very demanding - I have a P733 with a GEForce, and I gather that much less than a P500 with that sort of graphics card will struggle, though you can turn various effects off - for example the rain/weather wh
ich looks wonderful. The fog of war is really fog this time - a change from black areas of the map in Age of Empires etc. Controls are fairly similar to other RTS games - for example grouping units.

The sound is reasonable, though if you have played Homeworld, you will be dissapointed.

You will see though that the units move on a square grid which when they are lined up does detract somewhat - I guess it makes programming the times easier but it is very obvious.

So in summary, a good, almost great RTS with lovely graphics and well worth a look.
