Advantages: A new world
Disadvantages: None
The Elder Scrolls Shivering Isles is a Great Expansion of oblivion although only really needed if you have done everything in oblivion which takes some work, but if that's the case then its definitely a great pack even if you haven't done everything.
The pack adds new items and alchemy materials and opens up a massive world along with new enemies and bosses which you will find very fast compared to the second pack the knights of nine its a massive difference from adding a quest to adding a new world, In a way the shivering isle could in itself be pretty much a second oblivion although not as big as oblivion its certainly more imaginative as you will notice, in my opinion i think that in a way shivering isles is somewhat more exciting that oblivion just because of its Craziness and definitely a breath of fresh air if you may be getting a little bored of oblivion.
One of the nice additions is new Armour which can be made from madness ore from crucible there are some deposits and it is always nice to get something new there also a new summons which are nice and several new quests one of the first being that you have to take down the gate keeper the great thing about the keeper is it regenerates at an amazing speed so its very challenging to try and defeat without any help since there are several ways to beat him some easier than other one example of this is impairing his ability to regenerate, one problem that people might find nice to have is the gatekeepers regenerative abilities since you can throw as much spells at him as you like and unless there very powerful you can abuse it and spam your spells for easy training.
The world is a little bit crazy to say the least, that said the ruler is somewhat, as to say mentally impaired and if you decide your stronger your in for a nasty surprise.
In all the Pack is very good and i recommend it to anyone who loves oblivion.
Some advice on this pack is when you first put the pack onto your oblivion if you go to the gate you will find that you may not be able to enter straight away just wait and it will be OK.
Summary: A new world to explore

- 09/09/09 It's a great expansion, much better than Knights of the Nine. Certainly weirder than the rest of Oblivion too. |
