The Sims 2: Teen Style Stuff (PC)
by walsha11
I bought this add on pack for Sims 2 a while ago after investing in a few of the expansion packs.
I tend to download a lot of clothes and hairstyles for my Sims 2 but I have found the internet is lacing somewhat in clothes for teenagers. Dressing my Sims up is one of my favourite things to do so finding a pack that gives me ... the opportunity to do this more for my teeny Sims seemed like a great thing for me.
Here are some details of what you get and how they can be used in combination with your Sims 2 game:
- Sims -
You get some six new teens to add to your neighbourhood in the form of roving socialites. By that I mean, they aren't playable they simply roam around and are there for your Sims to befriend. There are two 'all america' teens, two 'goth' teens and two 'alternative' teens. Each of these pairs is one boy and one girl, they are pretty useful during your Sim's teen age because they need to find someone to have their first kiss with and sneak out of the house for.
- Furniture -
To match your super cool new teens there are some added sets of furniture. Including what I would say are princess, surfer and goth bedroom sets. There are also teen appropriate things like a notice board, cd stacker, posters, dirty piles of clothes and skins for computers. These all help create the look of a teenager's bedroom.
- Clothes -
There are quite a few new clothing pieces to add to your teen's wardrobe. Many of these are in the styles of the six new Sims which definitely helps to give your teen a little bit of personality. I find the boys clothes the most useful as these are tricky to find online to download.
- Price -
This expansion is around £10 new and around £4 used. I would definitely opt for the used one, as long as you buy from a reputable seller it should be fine. Though I really like this set for 60 items it's probably not worth more than around £5.
Overall, one of my favourite 'stuff' packs though not worth more than about a fiver. Read the complete review |

The Sims 2: Seasons Expansion Pack (PC)
by walsha11
I bought this expansion pack soon after I started using Sims 2 as I heard such good things about it. I like an expansion pack that adds something totally new to the game and enhances what is already there. This does exactly that and is by far my favourite and most recommended expansion pack.
There are quite a few aspects of ... this expansion pack so I'll just run through them and explain a little of how I use them:
- Seasons -
Do you remember the days of eternal Sim sunshine? my Sims don't! This expansion pack makes this game so much more realistic than it ever has been before by taking your Sims through each of the seasons. In Autumn your trees turn a beautiful rusty orange and your Sim begins to wear their outerwear outside. In winter there are feet thick piles of snow covering the ground, snow angels to be made and snow fights to be had. In Spring there are downpours of those pesky April showers, and in summer there are lovely heat waves and the odd bit of sunburn. I think this is such a cool and clever element to add to the game and just makes it super realistic. It means when you play a family for a period of time it is ever changing and this maintains my interest.
- Gardening -
With the seasons comes the opportunity to build and plant a garden which grows according to the seasons. From your garden you can harvest fruit and veg which goes straight into the fridge ready for cooking. This is a really fun aspect of the expansion and a great way to live a sustainable lifestyle.
- Fishing -
You can also build yourself a pond and go fishing. This isn't something you necessarily want to do on every plot, but it's a fun thing to do occasionally. The fish can be mounted on a plaque or put in the fridge for eating.
- Hairstyles -
There are some nice added hairstyles with this expansion too. I tend to download my hairstyles online so personally I didn't find these that useful, but it is always nice to have a little choice.
- Leftovers -
THIS IS BRILLIANT. You now have the option of putting away extra food as leftovers in the fridge. This is super useful if you have kids because they can come home from school and help themselves to their dinner rather than the parents having to cook for them. It also means so waste!
- Careers -
There are six new careers with this, these include: gamer, law enforcement, journalism and musician. I love any additional careers so this aspect is great for me.
- Objects -
Loads of new objects to explore with this expansion pack which is just great. There are also some new building tools which are super useful and just enhance this game that bit more.
- Price -
This expansion pack is around £7 used and then around £9 new on Amazon. This is a really good price for an expansion pack that offers so much to the game.
Overall, my favourite expansion pack for Sims 2. Read the complete review |

The Sims 2: Open for Business Expansion Pack (PC)
by walsha11
I bought this Open for Business Sims 2 expansion pack a year or so ago. I pretty much own every expansion and add on pack out there and this one sounded quite different so I thought I'd give it a go.
There are quite a few complicated things on this expansion pack so here is an outline of what is available with the ... pack:
- Buisness -
This expansion enables your sim to own their own business. This can either be from home or from a community lot they will need to purchase and furnish. There are a few different businesses you can own (e.g baking, salon, restaurant). Really all you need is a cash register and then once your business begins to grow perhaps a couple of employees. I personally like to make a neighbourhood full of families and so owning businesses in community lots is not exactly ideal for my type of gaming. I do like this aspect of the game though for single Sims with children as they don't need to leave the house to work and therefore no nannying charges etc.
- Furniture -
There is a load of new furniture too, some for business and some that can be used for other areas of the home too. There are three style sets for the new furniture: international, storybook and euro. It's always nice to have some additional furniture to decorate my homes with so this is definitely as aspect I like.
- Items -
There are also some additional items that you can purchase for your business like an elevator, lemonade stand, workbench and cash registers. These are all very useful when setting up a business and just make the game that little bit more enjoyable.
- Price -
This game costs as little as £3 for a used copy and around £5 for a new copy from Amazon. I think this is a pretty decent price for an expansion pack, and is even cheaper than some of the 'stuff' packs. It isn't something I want to use all the time when I am playing this game, but it is a nice addition to an already great game.
Overall, this is a fun expansion pack that adds an entirely new element to the game. I don't use the business option all the time but it is fun to experiment with and to supplement a busy family life. Read the complete review |
