Personally i was following this game since i heard of its development 6 months before its release and in my opinon it wasn't all that good.
When it came out i though it would occupy my life for the next year and it didn't, probably because my expectations were set so high but also when release it was riddled with bugs and seemed to lagg almost constantly.
The multiplayer is complex but is very realistic and relativley lagg free, i faced this guy who obviously had some experiance and i hadn't so, he chose a good around army whilst i didn't choose any cavarly since i though i could use the cannons in the fort i was in, unfortunatley due to a bug or maybe its different in multiplayer, i couldn't use the cannons so despite some attempted cavalry charges, i was shelled then charged and although i fought courageously, i was outnumbered and so lost but aside from my defeat , i suffered no problems with multiplayer, it offers a number of game types and maps keeping things fresh.
Anyway Creative Assembly has annouced that DLC which will allow you to play online with a friend on a campaign map does exist.
Overall if you love Total war games buy it, but it wasn't to my tastes though i don't know why.
Summary: Fight against the 18th century superpowers as one of 11 empires
