Advantages: Great Plot, Acting, Improved Graphics
Disadvantages: Some "silly" puzzles
Monkey Island. The creme de la creme of adventure gaming. Nothing can possibly beat it. Ever. Thats my opinion anyway and with the ever dwindling Adventure game population, it looks as if nothing will ever beat it. Now back and prettier than ever (If thats the right description), Guybrush Threepwood is ready for more swashbuckling (how cliched) fun. In continueing LucasArts style, there is no way to lose in this game. You can never die, you can never do something irreversibly wrong and this means it won't be half as frustrating as either of the Broken Sword games (where you COULD die and get things irreversibly wrong). The Puzzles, as always, are well rounded and not too frustrating, however there are one or two which I think could have done with a little bit more thought on LucasArts behalf. Not to worry though. The graphics are tasty, with lovely pre-rendered backdrops set over a number of islands. The acting is at a constant high throughout the game and never goes hammy or unbelievable. If you are looking for an adventure that will keep you laughing right through then this is the one. Trouble is, if you want a new adventure game nowadays, this'll be the only readily available one. Come on developers! If an adventure game is a good as this then you will make money!!
