Advantages: Great game all around
Disadvantages: Addictive
Football manager 2002 is now out of date since last week when the new ea sports management game came out. If you love Ea Sports you will know that I am talking about TOTAL CLUB MANAGER. Back to this game though!!!! Released little over a year ago Football manager 2002 is another chapter in the football management games brought to you by EA sports. I have owned all of the Ea Football management games since 1996 and they have gotten better each year as technology and research has advanced. With computers becoming ever more powerful graphics and game play have been vastly improved. The 2002 version is better than last year?s version as I have just mentioned above. I got this game last year and if you want the exact time of year it was 15th of September 2001 at 12.50 and it was purchased for £19.99 from Woolworth?s and I payed with a £20 note(sorry I am getting obsessed) With an updated database, league tables and player statistics from the previous season. It was bang up to date until the arrival of total club manager 2003 last week. The minimum requirements are as follows. 233 Mhz processor 32 mb of ram 300 mb of free space on your hard drive A four speed cd/dvd player 4 mb graphic card Direct x version 8.0 (comes with the game) And it operates on windows 95/98/2000/me and I am using it on XP There are 21 leagues available to play in and they are all licensed. Including the F.a. premier league and the bundesliga. There are a choice of seven countries to manage in which are: England, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Scotland and Holland. Once you choose your team and start a game there are a choice of three season?s objectives which you have to choose from. They are not ridiculously hard to achieve as you get three seasons to achieve them. Once your Objective has been achieved you will be given the choice of another three objectives to complete. The game interface is very easy to
use and get used to and there are ?shortcuts? available to use to get you through the game quicker. The menu is broke down into categories eg. Transfers and scouts and so on. The Transfer market is very realistic and the price of a player is very well estimated compared to reality. As a young player is developed his value rises as it would in real life. So it is outstanding Tactics play a big part in the game and you need the right tactics to win the game. There are many formations available for you to use and you can also give players individual orders, there is also an option to give team orders. Training is also another key to the game. With daily tasks for you players to do this helps them improve their skill and make their value rise. Also training up your youths is another key aspect because you can save yourself millions later on in the game. When playing a game there are a few options that can be taken. You can have a quick match which just shows you the final score. A fast view which shows the teams as a list and has quick text commentaries or a full 3d match which is great but time consuming. On lasts about 7 minutes not 90 minutes like in real life. In football in the real world there are constantly transfers happening so a game can never be exact. For the last few years though there has been a great addition to the game which is a database editor. This gives you power to build up your own team then start the game up and manage them without having to make any changes to your already perfect squad with millions to spend

- 23/09/02 I always found the Championship manager series the best football management sims to play. Problem is that all these sims are all very samey-samey now. Still, having the time to play one would be nice, but if I start, I can't stop and I don't have a spare few days at the moment! LOL |
