Flying seems to have fascinated man for ever, which I suspect is why flight simulators have been popular on computers ever since they have been capable of displaying the graphics. Only a very few actually get to experience controlling an aircraft and so the simulator has to be the next best thing. There are some people out there (me included) who think that Falcon 4.0 from Microprose is at the top of the current offerings. It does have it's good and bad sides though, when it's good it is fantastic however it's bad side is very very bad. The fact is Microprose and Hasbro released a very unfinished and buggy product which has a tendency to crash a lot ... Read the complete review

The game revolves around a hypothetical war set in Korea. There are three forms of campaign, each with the war in a different situation and time. As an F-16 block 50/52 fighter pilot(US designed modern multirole fighter plane now operated by many nations) you must rage war against the DPRK in a large scale conflict between the US/ROK(South Korea) alliance and the DPRK/China alliance. What really makes this game stand out is that it is the most non-linear game currently out. Even while you plan your next flight the war is raging on (with commentary of events, downed aircraft etc.)and the clock is ticking. Missions can range from interdiction to destroying steel ... Falcon 4.0 is the most realistic flight simulator ever made. If you want to choose a flight simulator but you don’t know which one to buy, get Falcon 4.0. It’s almost real you could feel you were there. But it’s also very hard. Microprose have done well in making this game, when I say you could feel you were there it’s because you are constantly hearing reports of what’s going on, also there more weapons you load the harder it is to control the F16. I play it on the easiest setting with a low realism rate and I still find it hard, and I tried playing it with maximum realism and I found it impossible. On easy you get radar, which is ... I must admit, when I saw this game on the shelf at the local software store, I was immediately intrigued by its huge packaging. The first release was a three ring binder containing over 500 pages. I thought to myself, wow, a real combat flight sim. And that's exactly what it is. The boys at Microprose have delivered an excellent sequel to the beloved Falcon 3.0. Graphics are intense as well as gameplay. The flight model for the F-16 could not possibly be any closer than it is to the real thing. I currently have a PII 400 with 128mb of ram and 8meg AGP video card with a Voodoo 2 12Mb in parallel. The game is extremely smooth on my machine but still a little choppy ...
