Advantages: level cap, new weapons
Disadvantages: too hard in some areas
This add on pack adds 2 expansions to the game, in terms of missions, weapons, armour and characters. One of the best things about this expansion is actually the raising of the level cap from 20 to 30, which gives you more incentive to actually go and do all the side missions already in the game.
Point lookout is an expansion which takes place off the mainland of fallout 3. You are shipped out to Maryland, where there has been no bomb damage, but where radiation has changed everything about the landscape. There are many deformed humans as characters. One large tip i would give is to level and prepare before leaving for point lookout. I jumped right in and did this expansion first, and it was nearly impossible. Ammo and health are scarce, and the enemies are extremely numerous, and give no time to recover between battles. Save often. The point lookout part of the expansion is worth buying it alone, and it can be bought for around £5 online.
Broken steel is very much more of the same of fallout 3. There are a few new weapons and characters, all of which make for a fairly entertaining expansion. The game play is a continued fight against the enclave. If you are getting sick of standard fallout 3 and are looking for something different then broken steel isn't for you.
overall i would recommend this, mainly for the raise in level cap of 20 to 30. this expansion is good value for what you get.
Summary: worth it just for the raised level cap
