Advantages: good story

Fallout 3 is an action adventure role playing game which a bit of first person shooter and horror survival thrown in for good luck for the PC and is rated M for mature, the game was released in October 2008. The game is only playable as single player. The game has also been released for the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3. It is the third game in the series.

Game Play

The game takes place 36 years after the events of Fallout 2 in the year 2277, 200 years after the nuclear war that devastated the world. You play as a survivor in vault 101, a shelter that is designed to protect the inhabitants from the Nuclear fallout. The game starts with awaking to find your father, James who has mysteriously defied the Overseer and left the vault and nobody seems to know why. After your questions are not answered you have to leave the safety of the shelter and venture in to Washington DC in an attempt to find your missing father. On the path you encounter various different factions in the wasteland some who will assist you for a price and some that will kill you as quickly as look at you.

As in most role playing games you have the opportunity to upgrade your character by earning experience points, and you can set a few that you want at the beginning of the game. You can level up to level 20 in total. You also get to make choices based on good or evil. Also travel with other characters although you do not have the opportunity to play as them.

The main way to get weapons is to scavenge items as you go along and build your own, the more you use weapons the weaker they get if you do not repair or maintain them and each weapon can be modified as well.

There is plenty of levels and the game is non linear, you can explore and go where ever you want to and the game can be quite humorous at times.

Controls/Graphics

The controls is mainly mouse so is pretty easy to use although you can set some of your own shortcut keys if you wish. The graphics are really detailed and they landscape is shown to a high degree of detail.

Difficulty

The AI is very good and the game is long and quite hard to complete especially if you do not level up quickly, the characters that go along with you are usually not that much use and quite often just get in the way.

Value for Money

There is plenty of levels and the game has a strong plot and good cut scenes, even as the game does not have multiplayer you should still be able to get plenty of game play out of the game and you can quite easily play it again doing everything differently and there is plenty of different endings available.

Additional Information

You can download a mission editor for the game as well as download some official new maps and quests to play and you can also download an upgrade to allow you to level up to level 30 instead of 20.
