The first time I tried fallout it imediatly became apparent how hard and unforgiving it is compared to modern games where you have autosave and quicksave functions to prevent death from being such a great setback, not in fallout though, I had to remake my character 5 times before I truly got the hang of saving, the plot of fallout is pretty simple; The world was destroyed in a nuclear war and you have to go and find a water chip before your vaults water suply runs out and you and your friends and family have to abbandon it, as you yourney trough the wasteland you will discover darker plots and your actions will have consequenses on the fate of the wastes ( as I said, ...  Read the complete review

To describe Fallout as seminal would be to do it a disservice. When I first placyed the game over ten years ago, I loaded it up, created my character, fought a rat, died, got fed up and didn't play it again for a few months. When I eventually did, I took the time to understand the game, the setting and the engine. I was rewarded with one of the greatest games I have ever played. The Infinity engine may be regarded as outdated now (although it's precisely what Fallout 3 and it's protagonist on rollerskates could have done with) but for the mid-90s, it was perfect. In 1997 Interplay released Fallout, the rpg game that is set in a post-apocalyptic future.
