Advantages: Beautiful Graphics, Realistic, Nice effects with fire and wind
Disadvantages: Can be dull getting between missions, some missions repetitive. Weapon jamming and Malaria annoying.
First off you will have to have alot of patience to play this game as there will be alot and I mean alot of basic driving and running between missions and other locations of interest. On the other hand though the graphics in the game are beautiful at times and that can help to alleviate some of the logistical boredom.
Essentially this game is a free roaming first person shooter set in the lovely drawn out plains of South Africa and sets you with the main mission of killing an arms dealer.
Seems simple doesn't it? But there are also two warring factions within the 50 squared Kilometres of playing area, both of which you can take jobs for and both of which will have outposts, ammo dumps and safe houses (The latter can be unlocked and kept as your own) and will always attack you.
A few other little side events are that you are suffering from Malaria and have to find along the way tablets by doing little tasks for random people, to be honest this part added to the game is just annoying and adds nothing to the playing experience.
So as this is a FPS, lets get on with the weapons. There is a nice selection of real life weapons available in the game, purchasable with found and earned diamonds, all which will degrade over time and start jamming, sometimes even too often, which can also be annoying but you can see that the makers have tried to make this realistic.
The game has built in a dynamic weather and wind system, meaning that you can gloriously set fire to certain dry environments and trees, which depending on wind direction, can burn out whole camps and send the enemy into disarray, leaving them out in the open for easy pickings.
This game overall is alot of fun, has stunning optimised graphics, nice sound effects and a few nice little tricks with the realistic wind and if you have the patience to live with the constant driving, swimming and running to all the different missions (Which I suppose is realistic, as why should missions always be on your doorstep) then you will enjoy this game and understand the kind of first person shooter the makers were trying to make.
Summary: A great game with only dull moments when travelling between missions.

- 10/10/09 Its a good one to get as its not a game to play all in one go.
I play it a few hours now and again.
Its a great game to come back to and blow stuff up, do a few missions and then have a break. You need the break thought because of all the travelling you have to do :-) |
