Advantages: no new features

Disadvantages: Good graphics

EA sports have a poor record of churning out games yearly, and not taking their time in creating a bug-free, spectacular game. FIFA 2001 is thankfully an exception to the rule. FIFA 2001 is a marvel of graphics ingenuity, combined with a gameplay that is unmatched. After the release of FIFA 1999, I eagerly awaited the next installment. If anything, FIFA 2000 was worse than 1999. I thought the amount of bugs spoiled an average game. Comparing 2000 and 2001 is like comparing a Toyota to a BMW.

FIFA 2001 is a real-time playing football game. Soccer to you people who think football is something else :) You can play multi player or solo, and you can choose from any major team in Europe to control. After you choose your team, you can either play in their own league, or you can customise your league to suit your needs. You can even create your own team of superstars by trading players, as long as you have the $cash$!

Let me say that the graphics in FIFA 2001 are groundbreaking to say the least. Don't even bother buying this game if you don't have 3D graphics, it just would'nt be the same. The graphics are so clean, even down to the facial expressions of each player when a foul is given. If you are familiar with soccer, you will notice that when the players take the pitch, they actually look like the real-life player! The amount of views the camera allows you to choose is refreshing, with an added feature of zoom, to really get close to the action.

The playability is perfect. Smooth passing, powerful shooting and spot-on artificial intellegence makes for a game you will keep coming back to. It's so refreshing to see your computer players run into open spaces when they are suppose to, not just stand around like Gummi Bears. Sound is also a plus for FIFA 2001. The music tracks that accompany the game are new, funky and numerous. Also, the voices of the commentry are great, and they have a virtual limitless array of comments, you ba
rley hear duplicates. The sound is perfect. You can even hear the players bitch and moan when they get a yellow or red card.

In reality, FIFA 2001 doesn't have any really new features its predecessors lacked, rather it's a successful game made even better by little changes, and a hell of a graphics and sound boost.
