The professional edition includes two additional aircraft (the King Air 350 and Mooney Bravo) six additional cities (plus the six present in the regular edition) and various extra features including a flight-dynamics editor. Both versions enhance Flight Simulator 98 by adding the Concorde and the Boeing 777-300.

... Believe me I did, and I even tried changing the realism settings to make it more exhilarating. The problem is how can squares be interesting? Of course you can download what the weather is like in real-life and have a go at flying in the same weather, as any real-life pilot would be. I think there is one thing I have to credit this game with. That's realism of some sorts. The graphics aren't the best, but some of the weather effects are pretty good. I feel like I'm rambling on a bit here, so I'll mo...more

Premium Review Flight Simulator 2000 (Microsoft) (PC): £40 for this? (957 words)

One word of warning before I go into the review, please don't take offence if you are one of the people who love Flight Simulators! I am not one of you so I differ in my opinion and after all that's what I'm meant to be writing here isn't it! Have you for £40 lying around not being used for anything special. Then why not waste it on this game. I know that some people like these games, and so I have to be careful in what I say. I find it boring with a capitol B. Why would you want to spend hours upon hours flying around the open sky for no real purpose? Ok I have to admit it, when I first got this game I loved the idea of being able to ...  Read the complete review

I grew up at a town in Kent called Orpington. Near to a rather small airfield known as Biggin Hill. Famous during the Battle of Britain and more recently for some spectacular aircraft displays but not exactly a large airport. So when I tried FS2000 for the first time I was very doubtful that Biggin Hill airport would feature on it..... But to my astonishment it is. I can even take off and do a low level fly past over the very unfamous Ramsden estate flats, there is so much detail on this flight simulator. Choices of planes however are actually fairly limited: you get to choose from Concorde, a couple of Cessnas, a helicopter that crashes within ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Flight Simulator 2000 (Microsoft) (PC): A Great Flight Sim (260 words)
by - written on 28/02/01 (Very useful, 94 readings)
Rating:

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 is by far the most advanced flight simulation program for the PC. It truly lives up to its slogan “as real as it gets.” The best new feature in Flight Simulator 2000 is its use of “elevated mesh terrain.” This eliminates the ugly, pyramid-like mountains of previous versions of FS. The terrain is now based on real-world elevations provided by the USGS. In addition to improved terrain, Flight Simulator 2000 now included nearly every airport in the US, as well as many in foreign countries. The detailed ground scenery at the airports and in cities nearly eliminates the need to purchase or download add-on ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Fantastic (202 words)

Rating:

I think Microsoft Flight Simulator 2000 is the best ever flight simulator. The aircraft that have been designed for it are great. Their textures are fantastic and very life like. The sounds are very realistic and the panels and scenery are true to life. Adventures are very easy to fly and you can make videos of yourself flying. I find that a few of the airports featured are a bit bland and could do with a bit of up-dating but none-the-less very nice. There are lessons that you can take that are very easy to understand and fly so you can be gaining pilots licenses very quickly. I have had a bit of a problem with the radio but with online help from the manufacturer, the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Flight Simulator 2000 (Microsoft) (PC): Flying has never been so complicated (371 words)

When I got my new PC, I had so many troubles with it so I was on the phone to a certain PC warehouse and I ran up a massive phone bill just because I was alwyas on the phone to them. They so kindly offered me any piece of software in the shop! I had always wanted a flight simulator game so I thought why not get Flight Simulator 2000! I got home and I installed it and when I finally started to play it, I thought "will I ever get the hang of this"? The answer is no. There are so many buttons to push and there are so many dials spinning around it is scary! Thank god I was'nt in a real plane! I was crashing every two minutes and it got ...  Read the complete review
