I grew out of playing games quite some time ago, back in the day when Sega Megadrive’s were still the rage and Sonic 2’s Day was the highlight of the gaming calendar. However there is one kind of game that has got me hooked and continues to consume insane amounts of my time. That game is Championship Manager or as this latest version is called – Football Manager 2005. Having played Championship Manager 4 for quite some time it was a very addictive game but one that could be improved upon. I’m glad to say that the maker’s have added little bits and pieces to this new incarnation to fuel your management lust. For those that don’t know what the game is about, ... Read the complete review

After my review of the final offering of the SI and Eidos partnership it only seems fair that I now turn my attention to the successors to the throne. The last time I set about reviewing a Championship Manager game it turned out to be an epic experience and highly time consuming. This time I am going to try and make it a more concise experience so I apologise if it doesn't contain the same level of detail as my previous effort. ** Background ** The Championship Manager series has been around for over 10 years and proved to be a very successful partnership between SI Games and Eidos Interactive. For some reason after the release of the last game the ... Read the complete review

When, next year, I fail my degree I will be able to point to numerous problems, missing deadlines, being half unconscious during lectures and a distinct inability to convey a message properly, but the one enduring problem is this game. Football Manager 2005 is not just a game, it is a full on addiction, as much as you want to resist as much as you try to do work every time that computer goes on, there it is, the icon of dreams. Many of you reading this will be unaware of football management games, so this will undoubtedly mean very little to you, but Football Manager 05 is the ultimate, just when Championship Manager 4 looked to have reached the pinnacle, this comes ... This game is an absolute classic, I bought it whenever it first game out and I'm still addicted to it today. The game paid so much attention to detail that it actually made me feel like a manager despite the fact the game is basically a glorified database. This game included more new leagues, teams and players that ever before and was our first introduction into the world of the media where you could interact with fans, players and even play mind-games with other managers. The database editor was also fantastic and has allowed me to keep the game up-to-date as I can make all the transfers that take place in the real-world or just be ridiculous and ... I brought this game back in 2005, and still play it to this day! This game is amazingly addictive, and I really have a problem. *Gameplay* Quite simply, the best management simulation series on the planet. This title has got it all. Extremely realistic, and there is a level of tactics that is second to none. The basic idea of this game is to control a football club, with 100's of playable clubs, with an infinite amount of real life players. The goal, excuse the pun, is to win all types of trophies and be the best your team could possibly be. Tactics are fully customisable, so you can put your goalie up-front, or whatever else you like. The 2d ... Read the complete review
