Advantages: realistic, very engaging
Disadvantages: addictive
I brought this game back in 2005, and still play it to this day! This game is amazingly addictive, and I really have a problem.
*Gameplay*
Quite simply, the best management simulation series on the planet. This title has got it all. Extremely realistic, and there is a level of tactics that is second to none.
The basic idea of this game is to control a football club, with 100's of playable clubs, with an infinite amount of real life players. The goal, excuse the pun, is to win all types of trophies and be the best your team could possibly be. Tactics are fully customisable, so you can put your goalie up-front, or whatever else you like. The 2d match view is fine in fast and key highlights, because even I can't sit through a slow 0-0 draw against west brom. If you are a newcomer, or a long time regular, this game will suit you, you can still be successful without an overload of football knowledge, but obviously some is needed. The transfer market is very realistic, as the whole game, with the bigger clubs dominating the market. In my opinion the game doesn't feel as satisfying if you become a big club, like Barca, Milan or Man Utd, so I would join a mid table club, and turn them great.
*Graphics and Audio*
Graphics and Layout of this game are good, with the 2d match engine being good enough to capture the drama of the F.A cup final, but at some times, it's a little bit stop and start, but just sometimes. The layout is neat and tidy and looks great. Audio is good when there is a match, with a lot of sounds available form the crowd, again these are realistic .
Overall, this game is a very realistic and addictive game, but I recommend it to any football fan. Be prepared to spend days on this game though.
Thanks for reading
Summary: football manager 2005 a great game for football fans
