Advantages: long lasting, Huge Depth, Plays on most systems.

Disadvantages: Not that exciteing, Can get confusing

Football manager 2007 is as you guessed the 2007 version of the long running manager game and with Football manager 2008 due out soon it should be good to see if anything will change much.

Now then first of you set up an account with your name details etc. then you have a choice choose a team to manage from the off, and when I say a team I mean any team it seems like there is every possible team that has ever been on this game, you can choose from a multitude of countries and leagues within so if you unfortunately support some poor low division team you can take up the reigns and try to rise them to glory now this is hard so if you want it a bit easier to start off then pick one of the big names in the English premiership till you get the hang of the game. Alternatively you can start of unemployed and search the job lists in the hope of being offered one.

Anyway when you have finally decided on the team you want to manage or have been offered that first job and take up the reigns you will have a hell of a lot of information on the club to look through , Finances, first team, reserve team under 18’s team, Contracts, Training, Staff plus much more.
Now once you have had a good look through and Understand the state of affairs as it stands you are going to want to improve on what you have in the hope of trying to win something, Title, Promotion, Cup or even just 1 game. And you will therefore want to buy better players and staff than you already have.

Scouting and finding new players/staff will take up a lot of time and can sometimes be quite frustrating, you can look for yourself and try and sift through the 1000’s of players and staff or set a scout to go look for what he thinks will be best for the club. Once you then find someone that you want you have to offer the club money on the value you thing he is worth to buy him, when/if the club accepts you can then offer the player a contract, and if he accepts only then will he join the team, so you can train and put him on the team.

Once all that is done and the season starts you turn your focus to the match days, picking the squads, tactics, playmakers, substitutes all in the hope of a victory that will turn to promotion, and higher leagues where there is more money better players more fame, and to eventually even conquer Europe with the best teams (if you didn’t start there).

Graphics wise the game hasn’t changed much from the original or any other manager based game and is very much in the Text based format, but this is probably the best way to show the huge amounts of information in the game without it becoming even more confusing than at times it does now . They could have made the match’s look better with a 3d engine but is that what people want in this type of game???

Overall the game has huge range with the amount of information that is stored with all the stats, players, Teams, staff etc that it is impressive and makes for a very good in depth game that will keep you entertained for hours and if you are a fan then you wont be disappointed even if much hasn’t really changed since the last incarnation of the game. Slight disappointment they haven’t developed a 3d game day to have a bit more action but then at least the game has no graphical demands and can therefore be played on pretty much any PC or laptop great for those on the move then.

I have it on my laptop as its good for when I’m away from home and my gaming PC but when at home I ditch it for a more fun action packed FPS like Battlefield. Or Strategy like C&C 3.
So if your looking for a game on the go that will last for a good amount of game play time this is it, but if you want action or quick games then look elsewhere as it will take a few hours just to get into it.

Summary: Great game for the laptop but better games to play on a Gameing PC

The only thing with it is the changes are very small per release.
