Advantages: Good Tactical play and interface

Disadvantages: Unrealistic and annoying

The Football Manager series has been the undisputed king of all football manager sims since it first came out a few years back. However, gauging the competition, this is hardly a feat. Championship Manager is frankly very poor and as this is from the same studios and made by the same people, the gameplay is plagued with the same problems.
For example, no matter what the player's attributes, it is in no way reflected in their game performance. Having just lost to a team two divisions below you, your star player's performance is still 9/10. That system is frankly useless.
However, if you like the whole tactics side of football management, then you'll love this game. Its very challenging and interactive yet unrealistic. In real lide, games are won by players, not tactics (althought they help) and even if you have a squad of stars, if you get the tactics wrong, you can end up losing 5-0 to Dagenham and Redbridge.
In my opinion, they should get rid of the stupid match-play screen with the blobs and the ball and have something FIFA style. On top of that, more realistic transfers and boardroom interaction would be very welcome.
In a nutshell, this game is probably the best (bar Footy Manager 08) at the moment, but still riddled with flaws. That said, it is the only Manager sim I would ever consider buying.

Summary: Rubbish in places but has a je ne sais quoi about it.
