Football Manager 2009, well, where do I start. It is the most addictive and involving game I have ever played, and it has the ability to completely take over your life! It is the latest in a 17 year series of games that just keeps on getting better. For those of you that played 2008, all the glitches and bits that fans of the season found so unappealing have been ironed out, and 2009 really is the best yet.

In a nutshell, Football Manager 2009 is the complete game, either for dedicated followers of the franchise, or for newer player just discovering the game. You MUST be a football fan with a basic knowledge of the beautiful game to get the most from it, as anyone who tries to play it, without an interest in football, is generally dumbfounded, and cannot see the attraction at all!! Basically you start out the game as a 35 year old football manager, setting up everything from your name and nationality, to your experience in the game (amateur footballer through to International superstar). This all has an effect on how easy it will be for you to succeed. You then take charge of your team and take it from there!! Beware though, if you take over a high profile Premiership team in your first season, there will be massive pressure on your shoulders, and the fans will be on your back from the offset! (imagine if Man Utd sacked Alex Ferguson and hired an unknown!!) The scouting team that works on the football manager franchise is probably the best in the world, and you can manage accross 32 different countries, with accurate depictions of all players in that league. When managing a club you are incharge of everything, from players contracts, hiring and firing and training schedules, through to managing the club finances and dealing with the press! Every aspect of the game is completely enthralling, and the more time you put into it the more enjoyment you will get out!

In summery, if you love football, and have opinions on what the manager of your team should be doing, buy this game and you will never look back!! Just try to remember that it isn't real, or it will become your life!!
