Having only had experience of my friend?s computer and playing Freecell with her when my husband moved in with me and brought his computer I immediately asked him to get Freecell for me. It comes with package he said looking at me as though I was stupid. I couldn?t wait for him to get it working for me. This is when my addiction first started. I was pregnant at the time and ill all the way through my pregnancy so I had little to do; we had no internet at the time so the only real thing to do on the computer was to play games. It wasn?t the best computer in the world and my attention span was crap so I took to playing Freecell like a duck to water. The aim of Freecell is to move all of the cards from the eight rows to the cells at the top right hand side of the screen. You have four cells at the left which are your ?free cells? which you use to move cards around the screen. The cards at the right must be in the correct suits and the correct order starting with the ace and moving up to the king. The cards are set out in eight columns in random order to start with and you need to move them into a pattern of A,2,3,4,5 etc in alternating colours. This sounds really boring but after a while it becomes a battle of wills. There are 100000 different games of Freecell with Windows XP which we recently upgraded to although hubby was told that we were only upgrading if we had Freecell if not I would be staying with Win 2K thank you very much. In addition to the game you also have statistics which will show how many games you have won, lost and how many in that session you have completed in a row, winning streaks or losing streaks. So far my addiction has taken over my life for the past three years there is never a day goes by when I don?t have just a couple of games, there is always time for just one more try. I am now at the point where I am working through the games in order and am up to game 111 at the moment, will update this if I ever c
omplete them all. So there I have stood up and said it my name is Margaret and I am addicted to Freecell.

- 17/11/02 Oooh! I do agree with you. I have this running between other things or during monotonous telephone calls. I have managed to get to 67 winning games on the trot, but normally only manage a dozen or so. |
