... space combat simulators. You are cast in the role of a pilot who pilots a vast array of ships through out the set period of time advancing through the ranks and earning medals, however this game differs from many when it comes to actual strength of game play. The sheer amount of ships, missiles and energy weapons is amazing, most are locked out from you until you progress and it gives a nice and easy learning curve. The style is very similar to that of TIE Fighter's and your maneuverability is denotated purely ...more

Premium Review Freespace 2 (PC): good game (352 words)

Following on from Descent and Freespace 1, Freespace 2 continues the complicated story. It is set 32 years after The Great War, Earth has been cut off from the rest of the universe, and humanity and their allies have begun rebuilding their civilisations. The GTVA, is faced with a threat from a group of extremist's, wanting the destruction of the alliance between Humans and Vasudans. Then the discovery of a sub-space portal leading to an unknown Nebula once more re-ignites the Shivan threat, starting another conflict. It is much the same as all the other space combat simulators. You are cast in the role of a pilot who pilots a vast array of ships through ...  Read the complete review

This has to be the best space based shooter on the market. Fast, action packed gameplay. Carrying on from where Freespace left off, you are part of the GTVA taking on the Shivans yet again. If you though the Lucifer from Freespace looked big and impressive, you should check out the capital ships in this game. There are a good range of player craft each with excellent weaponary. You can change the weaponry set up on your craft, however I generally found myself sticking to the default load out and ships. This game has an intriguing story line that makes you want to complete the next mission to find out what happens next. Although the game is generally linear ...  Read the complete review

Wow... I just got hold of this from Mark a friend of mine. He left it with me for a couple of days he borrowed X beyond the frontier (he is not getting freespace back. Installation was a dream I had no problems and running the game in 1024 * 768 with a 32bit graphics card awesome. Sound supporting A3d cool in game it is very playable the graphics have to be see to be believed. At the moment after about six missions I have had no experience of slowwdown bu I have had a couple of crashes. On checking the site there is a patch to solve this problem so get that and away you go. The training missions are very good taking you through all the ...  Read the complete review

Premium Review Freespace 2, role on 3 (159 words)

Babylon 5's space battles have influenced this game heavily and this is a great thing to behold with cappital ships slugging it out with beam weapons with power to swat you like a bug if you get caught in the cross fire. Most sequels fail to live up to their promise, this game suceeds. With graphics to die for it is very immersive with the joystick controls configerable to allow you to feel right at home. But it is the story line which sucks you in and spits you out. Forget Lara, this is a game worthy of being immortalised in film with the enigmatic Shivans proving more foe than even Arnie could handle. The only downside were the wingmen who had a habit of dying ...  Read the complete review

The game installs real easy, and doesnt take to long in the process. forget installing, when your playing the controls are kept simple which allows for the game to get harder which it does. nice smooth gameplay. The game on the whole beats the original freespace with a kick in the nuts, i dont know what to say, the graphics are tremendous the gameplay ...  Read the complete review
