Advantages: Play the bad guys for once.

Disadvantages: Complicated, Complicated

First off I would just like to say that if you don't rate this I'll send the boys round, Got it. Only joking. This is Gangsters for the PC. You're chance to play the heavy mob.
This is a real-time strategy game based in the Chicago 1930's prohibition era. You play a mob boss with the task of building an empire that can control the whole city and crush 3 rival gangs. You build up your own Mafia style family from a game containing 400 gangsters, each with different skills. Gangsters such as William "Fury" Kassel, Connall "Tiepin" Dolen, John "Psycho" Lord and many more. Then you can move in and take over the virtual city with its 5,000+ citizens.

This game has 2 modes of game play. The Gang Organiser and The working Week.

You start with the Gang Organiser, And that's how it looks, a filofax style book with all the information on the gang and the city. This is very complicated, Too complicated.
This is where you set out the orders for the working week, Check your team, accounts, territory. you can organise recruiting of gang members, raids, extorting, collecting protection money, bombing other gangs building's, killing, kidnapping and many more. You also need to distribute cars and weapons, set wages and how much to charge for protection. which buildings to target and loads more. You have a limit as to how many orders you can set as you only have a week to carry them out. Once set you can "Hit the Streets.

The Working Week takes you to the city with a 3D isometric view. You basically sit back and watch your gang roam the city carrying out your orders. You can open a window for each member and watch them all at once or follow them around on the main window. On the main window you can interact with the citizens on the street or the buildings. If you want to bomb city hall your hood wont enter if the police are guarding the door. You could of ordered your hood
to bribe them, or when your hood stops outside you can shoot them. This usually causes a mass shoot-out. bad idea. This part of the game gets a bit boring and repetitive after awhile, Luckily you can speed the clock up.
The graphics are fairly good and the sound average. The game does run pretty smooth and I've had no bugs or crashes yet.

Overall this is a game for strategy fans only, There is no instant gratification, Apart from your area of control expanding. You need to play for a long time to build your city up which could put people off, like me. I like strategy games but ones witch show results, like Sim City 3000 or Airport inc. But don't let me put you off, I'll leave that to the manual, When you see it you may pass out. 96 pages. You do get a basic tutorial which is a help, I couldn't of sorted the game out without it. If you have a lot of time to concentrate on a game this could be for you.

Good opinion, I tend to like this sort of game but opinions on this one haven't been that great so far, 96 pages sounds about normal for an instruction book though, I've seen games that have 200-300 pages in theirs. As to the comments below I see no harm in games like this, events that happen in real life as terrible as they are would still take place without games like this and similar themes are present in a lot of films, books and lots of other things.

Yes i was very shocked and saddened at todays events, I wrote the opinion a few days ago and hope not to upset people. But this is a game and I don't believe games cause people to do these things and I know the Difference between games and real life. Most games have events in them such as car crashes, shooting, etc. We would have to stop playing or talking about alot of games if you worry about offending people. Sorry if you don't agree.

In view of what has happened today the thought of 'bombing other gangs buildings and killing' doesn't sound very appealing. Perhaps we make too light of such matters - Kay
