Advantages: Equality is good

Disadvantages: Help!!!!

'Gender Wars' is not a play station game as far as I can ascertain. If it were then I assume that men would always be in the wrong (let's face it!) or on the losing side. Thus even though this may get filed in the wrong department I think that the site has made an error - its certainly an appropriate title.

This opinion is meant to be tongue in cheek so please don't take offence, but I do feel there is a certain truth behind it and will be pleased to hear your comments!

In the beginning there was caveman. He was hairy, pungent and his idea of foreplay involved using a club and dragging his conquest back to the cave by her hair. Women had it tough - no question.

It became tougher still - at least whislt cooped up in a cave she didn't have to do needlework, iron, hoover and appear to be a demure and subservient wifey, standing by her man whatever the situation.

Then came feminism and in the nineties; poilitical correctness. I believe wholeheartedly in equality of the sexes. Political correctness pisses me off but that is a different rant!

When I grew up into a big boy I suddenly found myself out in the world without Mummy to look after me and believe me it has been great training! I have learned to cook, do laundry, iron a shirt, clean, sew and all the other intricacies of housework which were traditionally not part of a bachelor's repertoir. I am proud of myself for doing so.

As to the other side of becoming a millennium man, Cosmopolitan and all the other girly magazines will have told you what you should be demanding of your man - usually orgasms are high on the list, a sense of humour, perfect body, ability to listen and / or understand etc etc. Quite a lot to ask and we try - goodness we try.

So much seems to expected of modern man that it all stands in danger of becoming a chore. When you find a new partner you have to worry about is it big enough, is there enough foreplay, w
hat does she like, general topography, how did I perform - far too much actually going on to even think about enjoying yourself! Maybe that is fair and we are repenting for the sins of countless generations of men but it seems that the onus is on us to make sure women enjoy but not the other way round!

I think that we are seeing a certain inequality of the sexes where expectations are solely on the man and if they are not met then its straight to "Sex and the City" conversations with the girlfriends while he is still enjoying a post coital cigarette on the balcony.

Sitting around in the pub the other night, chatting football with a friend, his wife pulled the face that I would guess you have just pulled - the one that says "typical male - all that you think/talk about is a game played by 22 idiots chasing a ball".

Now firstly do a little maths - only 20 of the idiots are doing any chasing - the other idiots stand still and try to stop the ball (unless one of them is called Fabien Barthez) but here's what irks me - after we put aside all of our manly traits and learn to be caring sharing males for the 21st century, capable of being funny, sensitive, good at listening and warm (and preferably with a washboard stomach and other healthy physical attributes!) why is it too much hassle to learn the offside rule?!
