Advantages: it's free and you play it online

Disadvantages: it gets boring after finish

hi everyone,I'm a huge fan of guild wars of course it has it's ups and downs so i try to summarize the game for you.
This game is free, you only pay the disc, nothing more. It's from some of the same creators of game WoW (World of Warcraft)so you'll see some similarities.
There is 3 different games of guild wars(you can connect them all) and one expansion.

The first one to came out was Prophecies revolves around the continent of tTyria and is the longest one as well.

Second was Factions and this one revolves around the southern continent of Cantha this is the quickest especially for level up.

Third came Nightfall on the continent of Elona, this introduces you to heros and i'll explain this one later.

Then came the expansion for all of this games,to play the expansion you need at least one of the original games.
Guild wars Eye of the North or GWEN for short, nothing new on this one but you get access to heros and there is loads more of missions and quest, the expansion is fantastic.

Now the game you play online,on the box with the disc it tell's you how to work with it and there is a booklet showing you the main plot of the story and also another one with "codes" you can put on your chat tab to make you char do diferent stuff (eg. dance,sit,laugh...).
At the beginning of the game you need to choose a profession you want to follow,on factions and nightfall you get 2 more choices for profession. You complete quest (small missions) to earn skills so you can try a bit of all professions to see which one you like better. The best bit is a bit later on the game you get to choose your secondary profession so you can combine different professions and skills together.
Completing missions and quest will give you money (very handy),some items as rewards (this includes weapons) and experience points that will allow you to raise level.
also the experience points will give you skill points which you use to make your skills stronger.
when on your way to missions or quest you can kill monsters to raise exp points and some money as well, these monsters also drop some items which you can collect and if you don't want them for you character you can sell it to a merchant on a city outpost.
Initially you space for this is very limited but you can buy bags and runes and upgrade your space.

City's will be signalized on your map (when you find one)so on the game instead of long walks from one point to other you can pres you map and choose the city you want and you'll be transported to there. Also here you will find people from all over the world and you can interact with them, although there are "districts" from america, europe and other international,so it's easier to find some one online at the same time as you.
you can make party's with them (this means a group of people to do a quest or mission or just for killing)or you can build a party on your own plus the non playable characters the game provides (henchmen).
you can trade, sell, buy items with other players or just talk.
You find non playable characters in city's
merchant's that will sell certain items you may need.
skill-you can buy different skills from him
runes-to upgrade you armor or weapon
weapons-some will build you new ones and also customize them for you,now this only means to give a 20%more damage and you can't sell it to anyone after this.
storage-for 50gold you can put your more precious items here to save you space, plus 50 gold and you get a bit more space.
armor-buy armor
material trader-buy materials to craft armor or weapons
rare material trader-same but more expensive items
Dye trader-Buy dyes so you can change the color of your armor or weapons, just to make it a bit more unique.
collectors-find in outpost as well they'll gave weapons or items in exchange for certain items you may get killing monsters.

This is the basic but some more or different may aper from one game to other.
Now you can also join a guild, very recommended.
This guild will give you a cape (uhhhh) and also a guild hall, but basically it's more friendly and you'll meet people that will be able to answer your questions and help you during the game.
this is also the best if you interested in pvp, this means player versus player, you get your items for your character from you guild hall. You can play against another player or you guild against another guild, there is loads of possibilities but players often play Pvp after finishing the pVe version (you get bored and nothing to do).

now back on pve.
hero's- these are characters you get on nightfall and Gwen, much more useful that henchmen because you can give them a second profession, change their skills, armor and weapons.very good to build you own team, but you really need to pay attention to them otherwise you get bad hero's and is better to have henchmen on your party.

Level-on thing very bad on this game, you can only get up to level 20,after this the experience you accumulate will give you skill points but not to improve you skills, you need this to buy new skills.
Elite skills- you get them from defeating a boss and using a skill to absorb this skill, some are very good but you can only have one equipped.

when you start any of this games you can only create up to 4 characters, but if you add another game you can create more and you get a extra slot at you storage account.this also means you can deposit an item at the storage or money and pick it up with another character.

it's a very good game and you'll spend load of time on it,if you done with it you can play pvp or improve in terms of armor or kill loads of special monsters that it'll give you very good items that you can sell for a very high price and do loads of money, but yes you can get bored after a while.so the only option now is wait for Guild Wars2 that is coming out in summer 2008.

if you get stuck or just want to see more of the game go to GUILDWIKI on the internet,is bursting with all details of guild wars and it explains loads of word used in there.

i want to apologise for my grammar but English is not my mother tongue and also if i missed some other important details, but the game is huge and there is loads of little details that you'll learn while playing.but definitely very good game especially is free.
thank you for you time
and sorry if i bored you too much.take care
XD
