The orange box, for PC and XBOX360, is a collection of Half-life 2 games. It includes:
> Half-Life 2
> HL2 : episode 1
> HL2 : episode 2
> Portal
> Team fortress 2
And let me start by saying, dont be put off if you already own any of these titles, as i had HL2 before i bought the orange box, and upon installation, valve (the creators of steam), allow you to give your current copy to a friend, and register it to thier steam account.
Right then, for those who are not at all familiar with HL2, it is the sequel to the no.1 best seller FPS (first person shooter). The game is aging a bit now at nearly 4 years, but you cannot tell this by any means, the graphics are amazing, and it has 'rag doll' physics. Bellow, i will outline the basic plot for the games individually (trying to put in as few spoilers as poss).
-Half-life 2
-HL2 : Episode 1 & 2
These two 'expansion packs' (although their more like games in their own right) carry straight on from where HL2 left off, seeing you escape the city 17. The later of these two games, shows you outside of the city for the first time. These two games are great additions to half life, allthough, you do get the feeling at times that theyre simply stalling you until HL3 is released. Still, well worth a play.
-Portal
Based on the same graphics and physics engine as HL2, Portal is a revolutionary new first-person-puzzler. The game sees you using a new portal gun, which works by being able to fire a blue or orange portal at a wall/floor/ceiling, and by walking through one colour, you emerge from the other. As the game goes on, there are progressively more difficult situations, which you can use this to solve them.
-Team Fortress 2
The sequel to the online multiplayer game, where you are put in teams on a massive online map. Choose as your character carefully, as this will greatly affect your role online.
- Overall, this pack is brilliant for half life fans, or indeed, anyone wanting a decent game on there PC/laptop, especially because, considering the graphics, you dont need a supercomputer to run it.
