This is my first opinion on Counter-Strike and I would like it to be my best so here goes.

Counter-strike is a modification for the best game ever to be released that game is the mighty Half-life.
The only thing, which the 2 games have in common, is that they use the same graphics engine. Counter-strike is what is called a FPS or first person shooter. These are were you can straft (run from side to side) run backwards and forwards and look and shoot with you mouse.

So what’s the game all about?

In counter-strike there are 2 factions, there is the counter-terrorists and the terrorists. Each as there own pacific job in each of the 4 types of mission.

Hostage Rescue
Counter-terrorists must rescue the hostages in the time limit.
Terrorists must prevent hostage rescue.

Bomb Defuse
Counter-Terrorists must prevent the bomb going off when planted.
Terrorists must plant the bomb then protect it.

Escape
Counter-terrorists must kill 50% of terrorists
Terrorists must get 50% of them out of the hotspot

Assignation
Counter-terrorists must save the VIP
Terrorists must kill the VIP

In all of these missions both of the teams can win by killing the entire other team.


The game is based around getting money and you can win and lose money in different ways.
If you can kill a member of another faction then you get £300. Or…
You can defuse a bomb and get £2750. Or…
You can kill the other team and get £2000 or £2500.

But when you make money you can also lose money.
Kill a team-mate and lose £3300. Or…
Kill a hostage and lose £1500.

There are other ways on which to make money and other ways that you can lose it.

As you can see the game is based on teamwork. Teamwork can mean anything in this game from helping someone onto a block or covering someone’s back. Don’t get in their way
when there trying to move as this may annoy them and get you killed.

There are also offer quick tips like make sure you either walk (no noise) or side-step in guns a blazing.
If you ever here someone coming towards you then. Walk behind a corner and wait for him to charge round. Then you can lade him with bullets.

So what can I do with the money I earn?

You spend! Not like on dooyoo but on other things like guns and armour. The game is based around real life so don’t expect to see lightning guns or Gloop guns but more real things like the AK 47 and the Colt M4a1.

As the game is based on real life don’t expect to survive a charge someone makes at you with a machine gun. If they hit you in the head then it is all over, you will be forced to watch from the side lines. If you are good though you should be able to finish people off from a few miles of with just a MP5. This game is not for newbies you have to PRACTICE, PRACTICE AND PRACTICE EVEN MORE to become a CS god. You can see the people who have no life outside CS as they have about 60 frags/kills by the end of a round.

There are a few things you should look out for CHEATERS. They may be people who have speed hacks or can shoot through walls. No one in the CS nation likes these Peeps and we want them out.
Cheaters may even get kicked out of a sever so if you see someone standing against a wall and killing people then report him in.

How many weapons are there? And what types?

There are 16 Primary weapons the categories are:
SMGs (sub machine guns)

Sniper-rifles
Sig SG-550 Sniper
H&K G3/SG-1

Machine guns
FN M249 Para

There are also 6 secondary weapons:
Pistols
H&K USP .45 tactical
Desert Eagle .50E

There are also other items like knifes and grenades. You can buy 3 types of grenade from smoke
grenades to HE grenades. You can buy armour here as well. I try to buy armour as it will extend my play time from 60 seconds to about 65 seconds I may even get a kill but that is till unlikely. On average I will get about 10 frags per 30min round.

There are also the bombs. There is only one of these and have to be planted. They have a huge blast radius so as soon as you hear the Bleeping getting faster run. It will kill you.

There are a few snags, which come with the game like the cost. The game can cost you a lot of money as of all the time on the Internet. There is also the cost of downloading if you want to start out. You may have to wait 15 hours on the Internet downloading. Or you may have to buy magazines lime PCzone so you can get the updates on the cover disks. But it is worth it. The game is currently out as 1.1 so look out for it in the shops. All in all a very good game.
