Heroes of Might and Magic V is a massive game which keeps the spirit of earlier games in the series and a virtually identical interface, but it's presented with more style and much more impressive graphics. It stars off with the marriage of Emperor Nicolai and Lady Isabel - but those pesky demons in the land can always be relied on to try and ruin things, and sure enough along comes an evil beast to break up the happy couple. With Nicolai taking the battle to the demons far away, Isabel is much too feisty to just sit around and wait for him to return, and sets off on a journey to gather an army and rush to his side. Heroes of Might and Magic 5 or HOMM5 for short, is a turn based strategy game which was released back in 2006 by Ubisoft for the PC, and is the 5th instalment in the series (there are 5 at present). Though i'm a big fan of Ubisoft's work, this time around they completely missed the mark. The biggest flaw was step one. The game was released way before it was ready. Messy and often lethal glitches, horrific screw ups and with those glitches carrying over to online play, a rather sour experience the first time around, which likely failed to bring in lots of new fans to the franchise. The second mistake was the 3d take on the game. The 2d lush sprite work which is an ... Read the complete review

The latest edition of the Heroes of Might and Magic series with very little difference to gameplay, keeping previous gamers in the know how. With the graphics very much more 3D the game can be hard to get to grips with if you have only played previous versions such as III. However, once used to this it is still a very exciting game with plenty to offer. With expansions now released it gives gamers the chance to play campaigns of different nature to stop the repetitiveness of the game. Multiplayer is also available meaning you can play with friends or randomers over the internet. If you want to just play single player skirmish ... Read the complete review
