Advantages: New heroes rules, New battlefield
Disadvantages: Online playing by patch only, Bad troop models, Few troops factions
has a fan of the heroes of might and magic series since version 1, i was very disapointed with this sequel to the best of the games that, imho, is the best of the series (heroes of might and magic 3). i was expecting new factions and more creatures. what i got was even less then the previous game. the towns are ugly and uninspired, being all of them very similar. the troop models are to simple for those used to the colorfull and interesting designs of the previous game. some of the new rules are completely stupid, specially the siege rules with no siege engines. but there were things that i enjoyed in this game. the new battlefield and rules gives a lot of more strategic options then the old ones, with the usual haste to put troops in hand to hand combat becoming obsulete. the idea of transforming the heroes classes has they gain diferent skills is also great, and it is fun to play the game just to see how all of them work. the overland map is gorgeous with amazing detail and colorfull graphicas that makes players pause the game just to look at it. also, the music is superb with beautifull voices and great epic sound. overall, this games is a dispointment to the folowers of the series, but if you are a new player add one more star to my review.

- 25/08/04 Hi Shadow, nice overview of the game - as a fan of the series, the new class and battle options sound very interesting. You could probably go into a bit more detail, but I did get a rough idea of how the game sounds (and being someone who prefered HOMM2 to HOMM3, I expect I'd reach the same conclusions you did) |
