Advantages: Original story, gritty style, gripping gameplay

Disadvantages: The stealth element seem to make no sense!

You know, I really don't know what to make of the Hitman games, and this review could be for any other ones I've played. I really like the premise and the storyline; you play Agent 47, a genetically engineers assassin working for shadowy government forces. The look and feel of the game is great, plenty of creeping around in the shadow, scoping out targets and enemy positions, creeping up on enemies and garrotting them or picking them off from a distance.

In addition, although the graphics aren't anything too special, the voice acting and the story are first rate- you play Agent 47, reliving his previous jobs after a hit goes wrong and leaves him fighting for his life in a hotel room. This means you don't get bogged down by the limits of the plot and sees you switching from one location to another without having to explain it, as 47 relives his past. Everything about it shouts out classic.

Maybe it's just me, though, because I can't seem to get the bloody thing to work; no matter how many time I play the levels, I never seem to be able to pull off the jobs with any level of stealth. I kill an enemy, steal his clothes, put away my gun and walk calmly past the guards only to be spotted and have to shoot my way out.

Every time.

Again, maybe it's just me, maybe I'm not playing the game or taking the time to scope things out and get the details correct, but either way, it's just too infuriating for me, which is a shame because I want to love the whole Hitman franchise so much.

Summary: An engaging game, but difficult to master
