Way, way back, deep in the mists of Time, a small band of intrepid game developers working for a company known only as Westwood were struck with a brilliant idea. "Why", they thought, "don't we take the little-people-running-around-and-killing-each-other action of, say, Cannon Fodder, only with more troops, and mix in a little military-flavoured SimCity?" "Great idea" said their boss, and the idea was knocked around for a while, until it was finally born into the Dune series, and, eventually, Command & Conquer. It was then thrown to a hungry public, which, myself included, loved it. Others took note of this success and before long the ... Read the complete review

Homeworld was a fantastic game, no denying it. It was a refeshing change to the RTS genre when it was released offereing totall 360 space warfare. At last you could re-enact your favorite space battles from outside of the pilots viewpoint. It did have some problems though. It was too hard for some gamers and the style of the game was off-putting. Here we have the sequel(of sorts), and it adds nicely to the homeworld stroyline. Read on to find out why... For those of you in the dark about the game, here is a little breifing. The game homeworld is a TOTAL 360 space RTS. There is no land in this game, and you have complete 360 control of your forces and the ... Read the complete review

A few months after the poorly advertised game - Homeworld came out, i got a copy. I didn't know what it was about but the graphics looked very good. After playing for a few hours i was hooked, the strategy, range of units, storyline, gameplay and graphical capabilities were brilliant. So as you can imagine when the sequel - Homeworld Cataclysm was released, and with such a good write up, I was one of the first to get my hands on it. I was very dissapointed. It seemed as if they had taken almost all of the features out of homeworld that made it a unique and great game and thrown them away. The resource collecters, repair corvettes and salvage corvettes ... Read the complete review

That's not meant as a criticism at all. In fact many of the aspects of the game have been improved, and those that didn't need improving have stayed the same. A near perfect game is now even closer to perfection.. Except. It may wear on you. I have only ever played single player, and I am starting the campaign and have played the first scenarios out of 17. And they may be too much like the first game. They are still enjoyable, and still stunning in many aspects, so perhaps I am being too negative. For those who don't know homeworld, it is a 3D Real Time Strategy game. In Homeworld itself, which you don't need for this, you fled ... Read the complete review

If you enjoyed Homeworld, then you are gonna LOVE Homeworld - Cataclysm!! It is a stand-alone game and you don't need Homeworld to play Homeworld - Cataclysm. Yes it's more of the same, but they've ironed out some annoying features and added so many additional features it's hard to know where to start. If you didn't play Homeworld, then a quick summary. It's a Real Time Strategy game set in space. You can move in total 360 degrees around your ships, and the aim is the usual kind of thing with these "command and conquer" type games - mine resources - build ships - kill the enemy. But what makes this different is the ability to truly move ... Read the complete review
