Advantages: children may enjoy it
Disadvantages: graphics, boredom, glitches
I bought this game after completing the theme hospital game, from the look of the game I thought it'd be the same thing with some new levels.
It was similar, the idea of the game is the same to build and improve upon ready built hospitals by placing new rooms, equipment, decor and managing staff. You have objectives to meet including curing a certain number or percentage of patients and earning a set amount of cash but there are plenty of issues in this game.
The game is set around a TV drama and you follow the story in between each completed level you get a new episode of the drama which shows mysterious happenings in the hospitals and romances and arguments between the staff. This aspect of the game isn't that good, not only is the story not very interesting but it is just like a really bad cartoon, I don't feel that this aspect of the game adds anything to the gameplay and see it as a poor effort to make the game in some way different from Theme Hospital.
When I first started playing, I thought it would be good, you have a choice to play in story mode or sandbox. Sandbox isn't a challenge, but an open ended free play to create a hospital however you feel. I find this mode boring and prefer to have some aims so went for the story mode. There are 12 levels in the form of 4 episodes in 3 series' of the TV show.
The first couple of levels weren't bad, but from then on I found them all to be far too similar and not very hard. I don't like games which are impossibly hard, but this wasn't challenging at all so it was just boring. In one level in particular I was sat down just waiting for patients, I ended up leaving the game running and doing some house work and when I returned I still had only a handful of patients. I decided to use a search engine to see if there was something I was supposed to be doing to attract patients or something and it turns out it's actually a glitch in the game! I restarted that level and I did finally complete it but I have seen in forums that people have just got stuck on this level no matter what they have tried and therefore can't open any more levels, making the game a complete waste of time and money for them.
I managed to complete the game, this took me a few days as I was only playing it a little each day, but I think if you wanted to you could probably complete this easily in a few hours.
I wouldn't recommend this game, if you have played Theme Hospital you will be really disappointed with this, if you haven't played either game I would advise you to spend your hard earned cash on the real thing and not this poor imitation.
The only positive about the game is that I think children may like it, due to the fact that it isn't challenging they might be able do to it without the boredom adults would experience.
If you would like to ignore my advice and try it for yourself you can buy the game on the internet new for under £5 new including delivery.
Summary: Not impressed
