Play the real things, this ain't worth the effort

I like used to like a little flutter on the horses and a few bob in the odd fruit machine. I've also just started playing online Poker which is fun. I limit myself to what I can afford to lose not that I go in planning to lose in fact I'm quite lucky now and then.

As a lot of you will appreciate there are times in the month that this is not possible due to the severe lack of funds, so as not to lose my touch I decided to try out this selection of games from Hoyle.

Hoyle Slots and Video Poker brings it claims fast paced video slots and gaming with nearly 300 slot machine variations and over 40 video poker variations. The claims of the variations is pretty accurate but as for the fast paced gaming and excitement……………………give me a break.

The slot machine games as you’d probably expect are all a variation on the same theme and after a while they get really really boring, since even if you win the jackpot there is no actual payout……………..no clinking of pound coins falling into the drawer awaiting you eager pick up. The graphics in the slots is good but I felt that in this day and age where computer graphics can be hard to distinguish from reality that not a great deal of effort had been made in trying to portray the realism. They were colourful and bright and had all the usual features of the slots but the physical thing was totally missing.

The Video slots were slightly better and the graphics here were on a par with some of the online poker websites. The game play was quite good but again I kept finding that little bit lacking, it all seemed just a bit predictable and once again I got quickly bored.

The only benefit I found from the selections on offer was that there is a help and hints section where you can learn more especially about Poker and Poker betting and percentages. This does if you play poker give you a slight edge over players who simply play the game.

The package can be purchased in most good computer shops and the price varies dramatically from place to place with the cheapest version I’ve seen being £14.99 and the dearest being £24.99 both of which in my opinion are way over the top for what you get. I know that software writing can be expensive and that there are a multitude of costs involved, but in this instance there appears at least from my point of view to have been very little effort put in and a whole lot more could have been accomplished if desired.
