Icewind Dale is a good RPG set in the Forgotten Realms world, using the engine provided by developer Black Isle that was so succesful in Baldur's Gate. Icewind Dale was a clear improvement on Baldur in one respect - the aesthetic of the setting hung together much more credibly, and rather than getting the feeling of wandering across the world in 10 screens it gave more depth to a particularly icy corner of it. The game is linear in plot, but allows for broad exploration and all sorts of subquests to keep it interesting. The interface is probably one of the best point and click 3rd person RPG efforts, as it allows action to run but paused when ... Read the complete review

Icewind Dale is another instalment in the Dungeons and Dragons (D&D) world of the Forgotten Realms. If you have played the likes of Fallout, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights or Planescape Torment, then you know what to expect, if not, then you are in for a treat. Black Isle have continued their good work in making D&D accessible to the home gamer. You do not have to spend hours rolling dice and working out hit points and the like, as the computer works it all out for you. This does not mean that this is not an in-depth experience mind, it is incredibly immersive. You and your motley crew of adventurers find yourselves in the harsh mountains ... Long, cold winters. Constant fear of attack. A time of heroes and magic. This - in essence, is what makes Dungeons & Dragons so good. Take a late medieval setting, add a random climate, throw in some nasty monsters, sprinkle in some buff warriors, pious priests, bearded wizards and sneaky rogues, and you have the perfect setting for an adventure or three. From the same game designers that brought us Baldur's Gate (set further south in the Forgotten Realms), Icewind Dale is a tale of grand excitement and intrigue in the frozen northlands of the Spine of the World Mountains. I shan't reveal the whole plot, but there are extra-planar forces at ... Read the complete review

Icewind Dale is an rpg made by Black Isle studios using the infinity engine, the same used in the baldur?s gate series and in planescape torment. I uses the rules of dungeons and dragons second edition, a pen and paper rpg that has been used has set for computer games since a long time ago. For those not familiar with the Forgotten Realms novels, Icewind Dale is a cold snowy place at the north where R.A. Slavatore signature character, Drizzt Duorden and his friends live. Unfortunately the game starts before he arrives so there is no Drizzt for anyone. You start this game by making a party of ... Read the complete review

Icewind Dale is one of the largest role-playing games ever created for the Forgotten Realms campaign setting. Developed using the Advanced Dungeon & Dragon's rules by the Black Isle team that brought you Baldur's Gate and Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale features some of the most formidable combat and engaging gameplay that you've ever seen in a role-playing game. Icewind Dale uses real-time modifications to the turn-based Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rules (2nd Edition). Those of you who've played Baldur's Gate will be familiar with the how the gameplay works in Icewind Dale. While the game utilizes BioWare's Infinity Engine, it ... Read the complete review
