Advantages: Free to play, great 2D PvP RPG, bigger than World of Warcraft in Asia
Disadvantages: If you don't like player-v-player confrontational combat this game will not appeal to you
Legend of Mir is now a free-to-play 2D MMORPG, that is hosted in USA, Europe and Asia. Players can download the game for free and play with a no-subscription fee basis.
Free-to-play servers allow users to play the servers for free, while premium items can be bought from the company, which is where revenue is made and how the service will forever remain free to play.
A lot of people will not be aware of this game and due to me being the first person to review it, I can understand why. I will introduce the game as being the follow up and latest edition to Korea's best selling Legend of Mir MMORPG series. The game is based around Asian myths and legends and takes place in a 2D environment, similar to that of Diablo II. Players can take on the roles of Warriors, Wizards, Taoists and Assassins, while being able to join player Guilds, battle for Castles, compete for boss monsters, adventure deep into various dungeons and have the ability to ride horses and fight other players.
The games strongest features are that it is rated as having the best PvP mechanics found on any 2D online RPG, along with its trademark 'hack-n-slash' gameplay. This defines Legend of Mir as one of the best free online games of all time. I have played so many over the years and I've yet to find one that comes close to Legend of Mir.
Legend of Mir 3 can be found in the Guinness Book of Records for having over 750,000 subscribers playing at the same time, with over 200 million accounts created throughout the world during the Legend of Mir series from 2001 onwards.
The game series is the most popular online RPG in the Eastern world, while previously having small servers hosted in USA and Europe.
Legend of Mir 3 Korean owners and creators, WeMade Entertainment will relaunch the servers in Europe and in the USA themselves, without third-party companies hosting services. An Open Beta Testing (free-to-play server) will commence and open Friday 19th June 2009. More information on downloading the client and creating an in-game account can be found on their official website www.wemade.net
Summary: If you don't want to pay to play online games this is a great solution
