Advantages: A good comeback for the little men with green hair
Disadvantages: Popularity is not so good
There was a version of the original Lemmings on the old Acorn computers. I, as well as others who attended my school, know this, as every night after school, the technology department would swell up with kids playing the game. The teachers weren't too pleased, but this didn't deter us from trying to get on the computers each night. Lemmings was a phenomenon for good reason - its heart pumped nothing put pure gameplay around its body. The box relinquished liability for loss of sleep, hair or sanity and after a little time spent playing it was easy to see why. Easy to pick up yet difficult to stop playing, the puzzles were fiends that would have you trying to figure out their solutions until the early hours of the morning. Why so much talk about an old game - what about this new one?! The reason I dwell on the original is because Lemmings Revolution easily matches the qualities of its predecessor. Revolution feels so much like the original, it brings back all those great feelings of the first game. And if Lemmings took away a portion of your life like it did to mine, you'll understand how good it is to relive those memories. So where's the Revolution part? Well it's actually a play on words. The levels are on cylindrical like objects so instead of wandering from left to right, Lemmings wander around the cylinder, sort of like a spiral staircase. It's sad, in a way, that one of the most playable and rewarding games I've played in quite a while is basically a redone version of a game that is over seven years old. Yeah it's not much different from the original product but when the original was - and still is - so strong, that's fine by me. Welcome back guys, we've missed you!
