Advantages: Story and action, characters
Disadvantages: I say none
Usually when game developers make a sequel of the game, that was previously good, that sequel is good to. Often even better, because they got a lot of responses from the consumers, gamers and other developers. Now with Max Payne that is exactly what they did.
After he caught the killers of wife and chilled, Max left DEA and went to NYPD. One night, he gets a call that something strange is in progress, he response and he is thrown in the chaos of mysteries and secrets society's, unknown connections and betrayal. On top of that Mona Sax, the female fatale from the first part returns even though he thinks she is dead. And the join forces, trying to unsolved the mysteries. They also manage to fall for each other.
This time the story isn't so dark, there is less "black, depressed" quotes from Max (this is the only thing I have miss from the revues one). The drawn story telling is amazing again and the sound that is used is really, really amazing. This is the thing that makes this game noir. I also like the sound for different guns. They did a god job. As for the actors who voiced the characters - James McCaffrey as Max is good as in previous one. Wendy Hoopes as Mona, should be a little more feminine, but she is did good.
Game play is easy and efficient. Control are good and this time there isn't so much of that hallucinating/dreaming parts of the game. There still is a few levels of it, but they are short and easy to pass thro. And I must say, there is a lot more shooting in this one. That slow down function is amazingly cool, again. And there is a lot of jumping in this one. Some of you will like that and some of us didn't like it. But all in all. This is a asome sequel!
Summary: More John Woo
