In this game you are a pilot trying to protect the Inner Sphere (the good guys) from the clan Jaguar (guess) the great thing about this game is the sheer amount of customisation that is possible, you can tweak almost anything, from engines to weapon groupings before you go into the field. Not a lot of people know that this game started life as an american comic strip, so there is a huge amount of history to go with this game. On the first mission you are in the basic inner sphere 'mech, the Bushwaker, (40 foot fighting machines in which a man is put to control them, and blow the hell out of anything that move which isn't on your side) during ... I have always been a fan of the Battletech Universe. I have read a load of the books, bought all the games and the board game, but still I had felt let down to some extent by previous incarnations of the 'Mech series. They just didn't have the realism I had been looking for. That is until now. Mechwarrior 3 brings you into the Battletech Universe during the end of the Twilight of the Clans series, after the Inner Sphere forces of which you are a member of have beaten the Clans on Strana Mechty. You have been assigned to track and defeat a Smoke Jaguar force that survived the Inner Sphere's Trial of Annihilation on the Planet Tranquil. You are ... Read the complete review

I loved the other MechWarrior games; you control a giant robot and go around destroying stuff ad infinitum; what more else could you want? MW3 may be a flawed game, but it's also very fun and works well as a standalone effort that will please more discerning casual gamers and hardcore fans of the series alike. Notoriously, the MechWarrior games have had a pretty steep learning curve, and this is really no different. The controls in particular take a LOT of getting used to, but soon enough they do become operational, even if still a tad clunky. Even once you get used to the controls, though, this is a pretty challenging game; however, it isn't anything that ... Read the complete review

This game is great! It captured a great deal of my time, when I was using my windows 98 machine, but sadly, once i sold that, i haven't played the game since. (Although there is MechWarrior 4....) The game play is addictive, and once you destroy one Mech with a flame thrower (The best way I always though, due tot he fact it goes up like a nuke from over heating! ) you're gonna be coming back for more! There is a story line, but i never thought it was that great, I liked the quick battle. The graphics for the game were good, and even look good now, in our world of multishader technology, and high resolution. The sound is good too, with realistic explosions, and ... If it's a simulation game you are after then Mech Warrior was born for the task! It is so unbelievably good/. The first two pioneered an era but now Mech Warrior 3 is taking everything to new heights with the new features, spiced up graphics and now it has a 1/2 decent storyline - but we don't care about the plot, we just want carnage! The levels come in at around 20, 25 and most concentrate on blowing your opponent to smitherenes! There are a clan of Mechs called the Smoke Jaguars and these are the enemy so Kill, Kill, Kill! For those who are not into any story-line type of games and looking for a good time to hear the Clan warrior scream ... Read the complete review
