Fully immersive, and all around you, an amazing collection of sounds will blast out of your speakers as you set about destroying those evil mechs. Gameplay. It's immersive, fun, and draws you in, destroying mechs is pure fun, and lasering miniture humans is fun also. So why didn't it keep me hooked like mechwarrior 3? Basically because it seemed too much the same as mechwarrior 3. Not enough has...more

I remember Mechwarrior 3, a great game, that captured many hours of my time, but could mechwarrior 4 do the same? Unfortunately, it didn't seem to. But it was still a good game. Lets see why... Mechwarrior 5 is being built as you read this. It is important to contact Mektek with your ideas so that they can incorporate them into the highly anticipated release of the best game ever created. I have read through most of the reviews in this and many other sites and you all seem to have some really oustanding insight. I am Dr. Sid and I am a Mechaholic. I look forward to blowing your mech away in a battle that I will soon bring to the Dresari family. This battle will change the universe ...  Read the complete review

MechWarrior 4: Vengeance is, surprisingly enough, the 4th instalment of the MechWarrior games, based on FASA's BattleTech tabletop game and fan fiction. The game is set just after the troops sent out to fight the clan threat return, and you take the role of Ian Dresari. On your return you discover that your home planets been over run by your cousins, and your family has been murdered. Of course this leads to some hard core vengeance on your behalf. The first thing any fan might notice when they run this game for the first time are its graphics. I and others feel that Microsoft has slightly strayed away from a "realistic" approach, and the ...  Read the complete review

Didn't expect this much (910 words)

I have the dual attitude to sequel. On the one side, always it is pleasant to recollect the past, by starting a next part of any game, to look at all modifications made by the developers, on new ideas and their realization. But on the other side, when the idea from the previous part, undergoes large modifications, it is drastically reflected in perception of game, that atmosphere of game is lost which converts multimonth work of the programmers into the present masterpiece. So was with Battle Zone, so was and with Red Alert. Yes, graphics has become better. Yes, units has become more. But the essence of game is lost; the atmosphere created by game is lost. Premium Review Mech Warrior 4 (PC): Giant Robots over here! (1425 words)

Having played Mechwarrior 3 to completion about a week prior to the release of Mechwarrior 4, I didn’t have particularly high hopes for the next instalment. Unusually for video games nowadays, a few of my hopes for improvement were realised here. I’ll start with the good. This one is far less of a sim than its predecessors, and whilst it still contains millions of buttons for various functions of your mech, you’ll find yourself having only to press fire buttons, centre torso and perhaps a handful of useful keys. For me this is preferable for it allows one to concentrate on the action instead of thinking about how to pilot your mech. ...  Read the complete review
