Medal of Honor: Airbourne - (PC)
This is a game that feels as though it could be so much more, but in the end is just another Medal of Honor, to be honest it almost seems that the game has not evolved from the first in the series.
I do enjoy playing this game however it just seems that for all the potential of the concept there too many elements which spoil the game, the maps are too small for an open fighting concept, the maps really only have limited objectives and limited means of getting to them. Many of the battles fought in the game suffered from serious miss-drops and I think that it would have added more to the game if you randomly had to hump and fight a decent distance to get to your objective, obviously because of this the missions are also too short.
Soldiers who wander around brandishing take half a dozen shots to the head before they drop, shoot someone in the head with a .303 and their not going to stand their shooting back at you, it seems that they were added in later to make the levels tougher and last longer after they realized how poor the game was.
There are also really bad rag doll effects when shooting the enemy, if you shoot someone with a weapon they sometimes slump or other times fly all over the place, its just too much like a special effects movie, its loses reality which drags me away from the game.
All in all I like to play this game its just that the game seems like it could be so much better, pretty enjoyable for a while though, its worth a try.....maybe a download as oppose to purchase ; D
Medal of Honor: Airborne, is a first person shooter set during the second world war by Electronic Arts and released in 2007 and is the 11th game in the Medal of Honor series. It has been released for other consoles as well.
You take on the role as paratrooper Boyd Travis in the 82nd Airborne Division in the US Army. What is different is that you can select where you start the mission when you jump from the aircraft at the beginning of the mission, you can aim where you want to land so you can land on an objective or in the corner out of the way if you do not want to start at the predetermined point.
The basic story is what you would expect fight you way across Europe mainly France, Italy and Germany and have to fight your way through several airdrop missions.
There is a good selection of weapons available, all which you would have seen before if you played any other second world war game and you can carry 2 primary weapons along with your pistol, as you use the weapons more and get more efficient with them you get add-ons improving the guns things like bigger clips, faster reloading. You never really need to worry about bullets as there is always plenty around to pick up the same with health with plenty of packs around to pick up.
The training mission at the beginning although is pretty boring and easy to do will be useful for new players to this type of game.
Compared to similar games the graphics are not that good, but they are ok and the level of detail is not too bad, although it does flow smoothly, at a distance you have a hard time telling which side the soldiers are on.
The controls can be set up to how you like them like most games of these types so you should have no problems there
The single player is pretty easy to complete as the AI is pretty bad and easy to defeat, the story is fairly short and will not take that long to complete even for a novice player
You can play as either allies or axis online on several maps which have been adapted from the single player campaigns as is normal, the main game types are death match, team death match and a domination type game. You can play either ranked or unranked matches and up to 12 people can play at once which compared to some other games is not that many.
Value for Money
With plenty of other second world war shooters around the question is do you really need another one the answer is probably not unless you can pick it up for cheap, the single player is pretty good to play and takes awhile to complete but is not that challenging and there is no story, the multiplayer is ok but there is better similar games out to play online.
