Advantages: gameplay, graphics

Disadvantages: prices

The game is still pushing PC technology boundaries. Flight sim is more than just an update to this much-loved series. It brings loads more features to transform desktop flying into a whole new experience.

This game was recently in the papers for being delayed. This was because the team behind Flight Sim 2002 decided to change some of the scenes, as in the game you were allowed to fly around in New York and even crash into many of the buildings. But hopefully they managed to successfully change this.

This has to one of the most expensive games to hit the shelves, I cannot afford to buy this each year it comes out. But many aircraft fans I know fork out for the large amounts of money it costs. The graphics make it an exciting visual experience. Much research has gone into developing this game just right. The ground textures were taken from satellite images.

Buildings spreading out in all directions while landmarks such as the Houses of Parliament and Royal Albert Hall nestle amongst the generic buildings. Although the game gives the impression that the Houses of Parliament are directly opposite the millennium dome.
The effects are also rather good. Like tyre smoke and skid marks.

As with most Microsoft software there are multiple versions on sale; Standard and Professional. The latest FS includes extra aircraft, but is mainly aimed at developers.

You'll be glad to know that, even with all the changes made, FS2002 actually runs better than FS2000. A 500MHz Pentium III computer is recommended but if you want to get the best you should have at least an 800MHz processor. If you don?t have a PC with high enough spec then really don?t bother.

If you are an aircraft addict, but cannot afford the massive price tag then take yourself along to Heathrow and watch T5 being built.

The cost-

My husband was looking at this in the shops the other day as he already has 98 and 2000 version. A good op!
