Age of Empires 2 (PC) ... m not a huge RTS game fan generally, but Age of Empires 2 is a game that managed to sustain my attention for a lot longer than I expected. If you thought the first game was loaded with features, you ve seen nothing yet, for this really ramps up the accessibility, making this a game that hardcore RTS fans and newbies to the genre alike can enjoy. Given that it s now about a decade old and dirt cheap, there s no excuse not to pick it up. As someone who doesn t generally like RTS, this isn t a game I play that often because I ve already beaten it, but the fact that it is strategy-based of course means there are numerous ways to defeat the enemy. Age of Empires III (PC) ... again Ensemble Studios prove why they are one the undisbuted masters of the more underrated of game genres, the RTS. Like its predecessors, Age of Empires III draws massively on historical information and events to combine engrossing history with fantastic gameplay. The game comprises of three seperate, but related, campaigns that stretch over the entire period of the discovery and colonisation of the New World that was America.
