Advantages: Easy to get to grips with and good graphics
Disadvantages: Can get stuck on certain races
This is one of the first arcade style racing games that i bought, of course it's part of the very well known need for speed series. This version of the game is based on street racing usually in the hours of darkness, of course there are many cars that you can buy and customise.
The graphics of this game are of a decent standard and offer a good experience when playing the game. The gameplay is relatively realistic but does not offer the experience of some of the other games but you would not expect that in what is more of an arcade game. The traffic in this game offers a challenge to avoid as you are racing against your competitiors but it can also be used to your advantage. One of the downsides of the traffic though is that if the colour of the car is grey then it is often very difficult to see it until it is too late.
The game offer 4 game modes, circuit, drag, drift and sprint races all of which are usually competed against 3 other cars but occasionally you get head to head races in the game. Each of these are offer a choice of easy, medium and hard disciplines but these appear to have little effect except the amount of money you earn. All the different modes are relatively easy to get to grips with and the game isn't too difficult to complete. There are the occasional races that you get stuck on but these can eventually be overcome.
I would definitely recommend this game as a starter racing game and it will run on fairly poor computers due to the age of it.
Summary: A good arcade style racing game
