Once upon a time my PC was a no go area for games that is until Nocturne.. This game was a gift and it seemed churlish not to play it at least once....I've never been a fan of PC games finding them tedious and difficult to do...Somehow this game is different. The graphics are very realistic and mood setting with the moving shadows, fog and the need to use torchlight and night vision...The music sets the mood of watching a horror movie making you feel the tenseness of the moment...Each character has their own voice and accent adding to the realism. It may sound crazy, but as humans, we enjoy being scared. I have no idea why, but just looking at the gigantic horror movie/book craze is proof enough for me. Up till now, there have been very few games to scare me. Doom was most definately scary with the lights off, and Half Life had plenty of shocks and surprises. But, we must differentiate between merely shock value (ie thousands of huge monsters jumping out at you) and true fear (generally created by a tense atmosphere and anticipation).
