There is a lot of material available to study, but if f you don't feel like reading from a boring textbook, I would suggest you start 'the fan way', by reading up some of the more in-depth information about current and past missions, and try to find out the details of their flight plans. With few exceptions, at some point in our lives, all of us have wanted to be astronauts at least for a day. We watched rockets launch and we thought, how cool it would be to take a ride on that. It's not so uncommon to be fascinated with space. Stargazing as a hobby is definitely alive, and many people I know used to collect magazines and pictures, especially back in the day when exploration had just begun and excitement was higher than today - just think of the first few successful probe missions that returned never-seen-before, mind-blowing images of the outer planets.
