Advantages: Expansive gaming area
Disadvantages: poor gameplay
I was eagerly awaiting the release of this game, after playing Fallout, Fallout 2 and then Bulders Gate (admittedly they were not produced by the same team but they were create by Black Isle Studios). Unfortunately the game did not live up to the standards of its forerunners. The game area is expansive and the graphical effects are excellent, this does not however make up for the lacklustre gameplay and very linear plot line. This means that the game can be very boring and slow. The time it takes to load up each area is also agonisingly slow, even with a high spec computer then time is unacceptable. The combat aspect of the game is also very poor when compared to other RPG’s. So to sum up as a part time RPG player I found Planetscape Torment to be a great disappointment. If you want to play a quality RPG play Fallout 2.

- 14/02/02 I had no loading problems and congratulations on missing the point of the game- on the whole you are meant to avoid combat and 'roleplay' your way around situations. Tad more involved than most RPG's |
